Well a Twin as a clean platform is pretty much a no worry choice.
I had a Spider valve 1x12 and really dug that did 2 dozen gigs on it and decided to go the the head which I actually prefer.

Yeah, I've read where you like the SpiderValve head too. I have a nice sounding 2x12" cab and I'm pretty sure using a head with that cab would be the best best (closed back, thicker tone, less mids, etc...) I just keep thinking hard about a combo. lol
I like the concept of combos but when everything is said and done I have never heard one that I preferred over my cabs. Hell, I converted my Mesa T-verb 2x12, THD Plexi 2x10 combo into head, and traded up on the SV from he combo to a head.

just get you an Axe-Fx and be done with it.....everything you want in one small box.
It would, but isn't in the price level he's looking for.

Chris out of curiosity, is there profit to made made by turning the Sig X into something else?
Are burned on it because you had trouble with it at the last gig, or is it not your cup of tea?
Because from all the options in this thread the Sig X would be my go to thing.

Hey Thump, I'm not sure if you've got the time or desire to build an amp but it sounds like you're the perfect candidate for a simple diy build. A metro kit or even a ceriatone kit would easily fall within your price range and you could build a smokin amp that does exactly what you want it to. If I recall somebody even had a finished metro kit for sale here recently. I can assure you it's not rocket science, there's marshall tweaks all over the web that can help you get exactly what you want out of it. Just my 2cents but you could build a killer marshall platform that's higher quality than anything out there in the same price range. From reading your posts you obviously like marshall tones and you've been playing plenty long enough to know what you wanna hear, I say build one

What's cool about the twin reissue is any Fender dealer will probably have one so you could easily take your pedals and try it out. I'm taking my tweed twin pedal shopping on Monday!
