Speaker selection for Uber Rev Blue 4X12

I'm currently on a mission to condense my gear a bit and bring my collection down to 4 amps, and 2 cabinets. I have a Mesa Roadster, Uber Rev Blue, Rivera KII, and EVH 5150 III that I will probably be replacing with a 5150/6505. I have a Mesa OS 4X12 with V30s, and that's a keeper. So I'll be running mainly the Roadster with the Mesa cab, but also likely switching between it and the Rivera. I'm completely undecided what to do for the other two amps. I have a 4 other 4X12 cabs, but they are all either kinda beat up or kinda low end cabs. I have a beat to shit Marshall 1960, a Peavey VTM/Butcher cab, a Trace Elliot 4X12 and a Hughes & Kettner 4X12, but it's the cheaper cab that goes with the Vortex.

I think I'm going to ditch all of the other cabs and spend some coin on a decent one. I'd love to find an Ubercab, but they rarely ever pop up for sale around here. Same goes with the Rivera cabs. My best bet is probably going to be picking up another Mesa 4X12.

My dilemma is what speakers to use.

This is what I have:
4 - K85s
4 - T75s
2 - V30s
2 - Scumback M75s

Plus, if I buy another Mesa cab, it will most likely have 4 - V30s

So since this cab will mainly be for the Uber, what would suit it the best? What are you guys using with your Ubers?

75s and 30s blend with in mine is great . I use it with my Wizards and really love it

For live its hard to beat 75's and V30's in an X pattern. If you're just looking for something different I'd try DV-77's and V30's in an X pattern or 2 Greenbacks on top 2 V30's on bottom.

Have you tried running your Uber through the k85s? Think there’d be some good sounds to come from that. I really like my Uber the best through my Mesa cab. Does your marshall have t75s or v30s? I’d consider getting a Marshall cab with the Marshall vintage speakers in it for a bit of a different flavor than the Mesa 8ohm ones. The Mesa ones, and all 8 ohm speakers are going to be darker and have more mids than 16 ohms, which will be more scooped and have more high end.

I'm partial to a K / V mix. The 'modern' T75 hurts my ears, but others dig them.

Not a big fan of M's with an Uber, I feel there's a lack of clarity. The Creamback H is nice though if you like brighter tones.

I can't recall if I've tried the Uber with the Peavey cab (that's the cab with the K85s). I'll have to give it a try. I really want to utilize the Scumbacks, but I haven't really tried them out properly yet so I have no idea what they sound like. Would the M75s be similar to any of the other speakers?

I'm not really a fan of the T75s. The 1960 cab gets used the least.

If you have those speakers handy, why not try them all? It's a bit of a work, but it's very rewarding, since you'll be listening to all the combination possible, and your ears are the ones deciding which one you like the best.

Uberkab with the Uberschall is my preferred combo. V30/T75 mix.
I can understand why T75's get alot of flak, but they just work with with amps like the Uber or Rivera.
I have mine paired with a Rivera Knucklehead Tre reverb and the uberkabs really control the big low end of these amps.
(the one I use is front loaded)

I like the K/V mix with any amp I've tried so far. The K adds sting and thump to the V's thick midrange.

The V30/T75 is the classic combo for Ubers.

I played mine through all the speakers lol.

But gigging it was either the v30 mess cab or the fat bottom vht depending on the gig

Well, it's decided then. This weekend, I'm going to try all the speakers I have, with all of my amps. I'll use one of the 4x12s and just wire up one speaker at a time. I have a few other speakers here too. A Celestion V-Type, a G12 60 something or other, and who know what else.

I'm also looking into acquiring a Rivera 4x12.

I just got finished trying out the following:

G12F60 - Smooth even response. Nice sounding speaker. Could be punchier. Probably a good all purpose speaker.

Scumback M75 - Big bottom end, punchy, not a lot of high end. Would likely work well with a bright amplifier.

Celestion V-Type - Warm but kinda weak. Like a neutered V30 because it's lacking some mids.

G12T75 - I still don't like it. Mids are unpleasant. Disappointing bottom end.

Vintage 30 - You know what a V30 sounds like.

Warehouse Retro 30 - Huge low end and good low mids. Nice smooth high end. Similar to V30, but much bigger low end.

G12K85 - Big, tight bottom. Somewhat scooped with smooth high end. Sounds quieter because it has less mids.

My favorite from the bunch was the Warehouse Retro 30. It just sounds like a V30 with bigger balls. Kind of a V30/K85 hybrid, so I can see the V30/K85s being a good pairing. The V30 was my second favorite and just barely edged out the K85. The Scumback M75 was interesting with a very big punchy low end, and low mids, but a bit too lean in the higher frequencies, which doesn't suit an amp like the Uber. It also came across as a quieter speaker than some of the others. The G12F was noticeably louder, but has a smaller magnet. The G12F was pretty nice, but maybe a bit generic sounding, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It would probably pair well with just about any amp. The T75 was my least favorite of the bunch. Not a surprise at all.

So I think I have two options. I can either find 3 more Warehouse Retro 30s, and that would be my preference. However, option 2 would be a mix of V30s and K85s. I have two of each, but the V30s are 8ohm, and the K85s are 16ohm.

Either way, I have a bunch of speakers to sell or trade, so I'll try to find some 16ohm V30s and at the same time I'll see about getting 3 more Retro 30s.

EDIT: So I just noticed that what I thought was a Veteran 30 is actually a Retro 30. I'm apparently not very observant.

Good plan. It's a good time to snag some 16ohm V30s for good prices because so many people now think only a few years of V30s are good lol.
