Doesn't OP have an EVH 4x12? I'd start there.
THIS....I always try this first with any amp, esp Marshall types. Doesn't always work but more presence gets the 'bite' I need. Presence max, Treble at 0 and slowly raise it until you dig it.I did this with my Friedmans and it really made an even more pleasant difference.
You just answered your own question.
I disagree. They're always fizzy in my experience, and I play loud often. Just not a fan of them. Not to be another jerk either, but T75's do sound a bit scooped for sure, but top end fizziness is typically only present with those at lower volumes. Cranked, they're a different animal.. But, I'm sure you knew that..
Greenbacks FTW.
Been curious about them as I've heard people like them specifically with their older all's and not much else. HahaHonestly I would try eminence legends , I have a older soldano FL 4x12 that’s what they used stock in their cabs for awhile , should help round out the mids and take some of the fizz off the top .
I don't think I did, though. I understand what a large part of the equation speakers and cabinets are, where as the person I was replying to was saying the amp was not meant for those items. You just answered your own question.
2 guitars. Other guitarist uses a rev E dual rectifier and a Mesa is cab with the stock v30's. Believe it or not, my SLO sounded like a fizz fest compared to his rig, but again, I really think the cab/speakers are the culprit.1 or2 guitar band?
I don't believe so, it doesn't sound overly thin or quacky/harsh, it just seems particularly bright and fizzy. I did run my avenger through it to much better result, but even that sounded fizzy where it typically doesn't. The first amp I brought to practice was an el34 5150iii and of course that was the worst of the bunch in the fizz dept, and I typically don't mind the fizz from the 5150 stuff. The cab belongs to my other guitarist so I may end up just bringing one of my own once I figure out what works well with the SLO and avenger. You think that cab you were using was out of phase/ not wired correctly?
They're definitely love hate.I disagree. They're always fizzy in my experience, and I play loud often. Just not a fan of them.
Sounds like V30's to me. I can't jive with them. I know the Mesa UK's are the best of the bunch, (IMO), but I always had a tear your head off experience with them. I love my well-broken in UK Greenbacks, and have yet to own an amp they didn't get along with. Round, smooth, warm, punchy, and rich. My Laney is a bright amp, and it tames it well. Squashes that high end.This.
I'm not the biggest v30 fan either, but yeah it sounds like the cab is the issue. Does your SLO have a loop? Throw an EQ in there?
What tubes are in the preamp???
Man those cabs are terrible sounding IMHO. Muddy and harsh at the same time somehow.Everybody hears different but those x12000 whatever soldano used sound bad to me.
I have a cab with '93 greenbacks and it sounds great but it's just always so dirty sounding. It's great for a crunch rock tone, but for high gain I really love V30s because the sound is a bit more clear I guess. My fav are the brighter/chime-y-er Marshall labels, though I kinda dig the slight cocked-wah sound I hear from the normal Celestion models. The Mesa ones are a bit too smooth for me but any of them are fine.Sounds like V30's to me. I can't jive with them. From my limited experience the 8-ohms do sound warmer/thicker than the 16, too. So that's another facto, but usually I can adjust the amp to sound the same either way.

Another speaker I'd consider is a Classic Lead 80. Or the modified Mesa version, MC90. They stay pretty true to your tone and give you a more unmolested delivery. Doesn't color it much, and breathe nice.
