The original creator and director came out and said as much. It was canceled because they wouldn't budge on the lore to make it work for a "modern audience". I guess they didn't want Stargate to be like Star Trek or Star Wars, considering how popular that slop is now.

Makes sense. They would end up alienating the hardcore fans, and likely would fail at bringing in a modern audience. Not that stargate is a "cult classic" in the sense.

Making it woke would have been a massive risk imo. It would probably piss off the og fans, and it won't draw in the Star wars/Star Trek woke types.
