Still one of the best amps out there...

I really like that he highlighted two things about the VH4 (other than the obvious...the amazing Channel 3)

- How great of a boutique Marshally type tone you can get out of Channel 2....very underated

- That on the latest version of this amp Channel 4 is actually a fantastic mertal rythm sound...Often reported as just a lead channel

Nice display of the versatility. Kinda digging that white headshell too
You two have the same feel . You two should start a band , fr . Get a bass player and I’ll bring the laptop drums . You guys would seriously be good together

Love the vid. Mine sounded exactly like that with a big EXCEPT!!! Channel 4 on the amp I had was a sludgy mess. Waaaay too much gain.

That was my experiece with the 2005 VH4 I owned as well...The my 2022 sounds amazing on chan 4. Many report the uodates to be relitively minor, but chan 2 and 4 are GREATLY improved in my experience.

Mine was a post 2011. Supposedly there was a moderate update in 2011. Not sure the entire history of that though.

Mines a 2017 . Sounds like this one . Might be selling it at tax time

Mine sounds like this one as well...But as he mentioned in the display comments during trhe video: it's impossible to capture the weight, size and thickness of the VH4 without being in front of it. There's something in the mids that's special...The way this amp fills the room is pretty unique.

My problem is if I use channel 3 it ends up sounding like the tone from Jambi . It’s like this amp is that tone lol

I hadn't played mine for months due to taking a good tolerance break from all loud amps, and generally just playing guitar at all.
Fired it up the other week and instantly remembered how fantastic it sounds. Just absolutely huge. All the channels were sounding amazing.
I have a 2010 with KT77 and a 2011 blueface RI with 6L6. The 2010 has the NFB mod, and I recall after doing some tube rolling years ago I changed out the V2 valve for a Mesa 7025STR I had on hand. For some reason it's just what sounded the best in that slot for me and my Channel 4. I also always run the gain at about 11 o'clock at max on that channel.
The blueface seems perfect with just running the 6L6's and no other changes. It wasn't as happy coming out of cold retirement and started red plating and cutting out. Shut it down, pulled the amp, cleaned the tube sockets and checked pin tension. Quick bias readjust and it was back to sounding perfect again.
I had picked up a JCM800 2203X a little while ago and had always been interested in how close I could get Ch2 to that sound as a point of reference.
Ears were ringing for a good whole day afterwards, but it was worth it.
Love those white headshells on the VH4's too. Zach always does great quality videos. I blame his videos for my SS100 acquisition.

Love mine. Been jamming on ch 2 the most lately and it just fkn kills. I’m glad he showcased how awesome that channel can get. It’s always about ch 3 with these amps which it has so much more to offer.

If you know how to use your guitars volume knob to clean up...And pack a boost pedal, you could do an entire set with just channel 2 of the VH4. For me personally it beats any JCM800 I've owned.

Ch2 is great, im glad to see other people have the same feelings as i do, the only channel i dont use is ch4.
