I have both pups in two very different guitars: Aldrich in an LP and the SSH+ in a super-strat. I don't find either of them to be VERY high output amplifier-slamming pickups. A good quality.

Out of curiosity, what DO you find to be a VERY high output pickup???
Oddly I found my BK Steve Steven bridge to 'sound' hotter than the Aldrich. Maybe it has a faster attack....
BK Cold Sweat and a Duncan JB seemed quite hot to me.

Any post I make my warrant the signature video clip below.

So do you find the JB hotter than the SSH+ and/or the Aldrich?

It's almost the auditory equivalent of semantics. In my experience the JB in a PRS West St Ltd and LP sounds thicker and congested and compared to the more evenly balanced tone and articulation of the Aldrich in the same LP. The Aldrich seems more 'versatile' from clean to crunch to high gain. The JB is a bit more rawk.

Ah, interesting! Thanks. I hadn't considered the Aldrich, but now I'm torn between it and the SSH+!

Glad I saw this thread.

I just put an SSH+ in an Ibanez SZ I have, which I mainly use for chugga chugga, Drop-C metal stuff. I wasn't thrilled with the results. That pick-up just doesn't have enough balls for what I was hoping for. It made the SZ, which is a neck-through mahogany guitar that normally sounds very LP'ish, sound like a Strat. I thought I installed it wrong, maybe only had half a coil active or something but after tapping the magnets I found they were both in working order.

I consider a high-output pickup something like a Dimarzio Evolution, which is certainly a hell of a lot hotter than the SSH+!

I think I'll keep it for a Strat project I've got, this definitely ain't the pick-up for the brootz!
