All the tones sound great.

AGREED! Damn, I love your demos, Pete! Your playing in conjuction with that amp just sounds soooooo....right! I also enjoyed all the switching of the [incredible] guitars during the video. What can I say?.....I'm just in fuckin' awe of the playing and tone of that demo! BTW, still loving your album as well! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Glad you guys dig it, thanks for the props! It's a blast to play through.

Ever since I went to the LA Amp show this year and heard Pete play the Suhr Sl68 and the Friedman-Metro amps I have wanted this tone. So, that's why I am building a 68 right now to similiar specs. Got to play Goerge Metropoulos's original 68 last week and it was awesome. Great playing once again Pete, thanks for showing us the amp.

Love the tone and the playing is killer

Hate to derail the thread but I was curious what you think about your black EVH custom.

Sounds great Pete, and the playing
Got myself a Wizard Plexi amp a couple off months ago, plexi amps rocks.

Question: How did you mic up your cab/room? I really like the way it sounded.

It's great!!! I'm still just getting familiar with it, but it's a killer guitar. Does what you'd want it do do, and with better tuning stability, because of the straight string pull and the fine tuners are a nice touch. I think the design and the look really work great- I think it's hard to do a LP-inspired axe and not have it look like a LP exactly, most of them look funny to me. This one totally works! The look just makes sense to me.

It's a 1-12", a Bogner, in a closet. It sits on some sandbags I bought at the hardware store for $2.00 :D Just to isolate it from the floor.

I completely surround it with sound deadening panels I got from ATS Acoustics. These help keep the volume down. The combo of attenuating to -8 or -10 and the panels, and I'm good to go, no pissing the neighbors off! I mic'd the cab with a 57 and a SE VR ribbon mic, both at the cap edge, and right up on where the grille would be (I have the grille cloth removed). That's for the majority of the vid. For the VH bit- and the intro song ("Perplexed")- it's just the 57, dead center on the cap, and really close. API mic pres. That's it!

did the JBL speaker experiment ever go down?

Sort of. I put it in a 2-12" with a Celestion, and I messed with it- I could definitely see that it was probably what was used on VH1. I was in the middle of doing a Scumback demo, and I was swapping and miking speakers like crazy, and I just didn't have time to really mess with it very long. I was up to my ears in speakers for like 2 weeks and honestly it's exhausting, taking the 2-12" in and out of the closet, get out the drill, remove the back, pulling the speakers, installing 2 more, put the back on, back in the closet, re-mic, play and record 3 different amps... and repeat. Like 10 times. ugh. So I'm just sort of over it I guess is what I'm saying haha....
