Love that tone and would really like to order one...but I just doubt it would be practical for me even with the variac. I'm guessing it's still pretty loud even attenuated down -8 or -10?

But damn, I still want one...

Don't get carried away fellas, Pete sounds awesome with any amp. Great player!!

Exactly. He can plug into a cardboard box and make it sound good.

HAHA, that was awesome at 11:45  Sounds great.

What speaker is loaded in the Bogner 1x12. I just wish it was possible to get this tone without waking my wife and 2 year old up. :D ....

an old M75.

It's actually quite possible- I'm still pushing air but there's an old lady that lives next door! She's never complained. It's not going to be quite as cool but almost, because attenuators are so good now! You just have to attenuate a bit more (get an Aracom or Alex) and then bury the cab in a closet, and mic it, and run it into a DAW- add some reverb and eq to taste if you feel you are missing something... you could even do it with garageband or something like that.

I do most of my playing at home with a cab iso'd, mic'd, and I'm listening through studio monitors. Even if I'm just practicing. Sometimes I plug into a cab in the room, but I like listening to the monitors.

Freaking Awesome, but then again its never fair assesment having Pete playing through this gear, he makes everything sound stellar

Thanks for the info. That thing really sounds good.

That is because he put the time in and practiced his ass off, anyone of us COULD sound like that if we put the time into it.

Tone is in the practice...........................

If that is the same head I played through at the LA Amp Show in the Suhr room, all I can say is that it sounded and felt awesome.

I have to disagree with this

Some people just have 'it'. You can practice and practice drawing a picture, but that doesnt mean you will be an "artist". Same goes with atheletics...you either have 'it' or you dont :aww:

Same goes with playing guitar. You either have 'it' or you don't ;)

People like Pete are "gifted"

Is it me or does the M75 have a lot to do with what I would describe as "juicy" tone? seems like it is well balanced where the highs are concerned and it crunches but not in a brittle way compared to say the way a RI greenie might. You've got me interested in trying a scumback... also, where is your verb and delay coming from? plugin or outboard?

Sounds great as usual.. I need to pickup a super distortion for my partsocaster.

To me that "juicy" tone comes from the power amp section overdriving.

I couldn't disagree more with that statement. I sure as hell can't get my Fender based amps to sound like that.

Pete's chops are what they are, period. But you can't get that tone without the proper gear, sorry.

Very nice tones! That's the amount of I gain I dig for even the heavies, it's all you really need. Anymore gain just gives diminishing returns IMO.
I would be quite happy with that amp.

You need to read the whole thread. When was Fender even stated??

My statement is in regards to the famous " XXX can make ANYTHING sound good". Years a go I could not do anything with the best example of a plexi type amp, so much so that I hated them. Now years later and taming all the gain and a lot of playing I can play a plexi ok, not at Pete's level but I can play it and make it sound good enough.

With practice comes one's style, practice will not make you an EJ, YJM, or Pete player but you will sound good with anything once you have gotten to that level.

EVH back in the 70s per your definition of "proper gear" should have sounded like shit due to his shit $150 guitar and beat-up off the shelf marshall.

Go watch the Fender Gdec vid of EJ playing through it or YJM playing some small marshall practice amp, they sound like that due to practice, not TGP approved gear.

I will agree with Tom that there is a small percentage of players that just something that makes them who they are.

Oh yeah, I have heard a bassman head sound scary close to a Soldano
