The ad for the Jarrett Ibiza I just bought said it had custom wound Jarrettbuckers in it. I know I haded those pickups from the other two Jarrett Forzas that I have. I planed on swapping the pickups.
The Ibiza had a high fret at the 11th fret, and I sent it out for a level and a setup. In the meantime I swapped pickups around in the other Jarretts and freed up a JB and 59 for the Ibiza. I ordered a JB and Jazz for one of the Forzas, and acquired a Jazz for the other so they both have a JB and a Jazz now. I remember liking these pickups in the Ibiza more, especially the neck pickup, but I didn't play it much before the setup.
I got the Ibiza back yesterday and it plays great. Now to do the electronics...
Turns out these aren't Jarrettbuckers, but a JB and a Jazz with Jarret pickup covers on them. That's why I liked the neck pickup so much. It was the Jazz that I just dropped in the other 2. If this thing didn't have a high fret, I would have used it at rehearsal and probably liked the pickups. Instead, I ordered pickups and did a big pickup shuffle just to find I didn't need them. All three of my Jarretts will have a JB and Jazz now, and I homogenized all of my wiring setups so all of the switches work the same. It wasn't a complete loss, I mean, I had to rewire the Ibiza to put a Free-Way 3x3 6-way switch and ditch the push-pull nonsense. I just have a spare JB and Jazz now.
