That was my initial impression too but I found that I was wrong.

If the cap were a real cap, it would say, '4mm 'insert wood species' top' in the description.

If it doesn't specifically state that, then it's only a 1mm veneer.

Look at the link I posted. Guy took off the neck and snapped a pic. Clearly a veneer.
 
Yup, veneer. Quote from buyer, "Pretty pissed about that, basically 1k extra for bad fret work, crapish binding, a veneer and some mahogany, loosing my faith in Ibanez these past few guitars."
 
And Ibanez isn't alone, here. I believe that the ESP standard series/E-II guitars with super-figured quilt tops are just veneers as well. It's what's done to get into this price bracket.

And if you like the look, that's cool. I'd just prefer a trans finish over the mahogany.
