Sweetwater

As I was reading through this thread it occurred to me that Sweetwater might be a good platform for people to sell their used gear on.

Low and behold, I go to their site and sure enough - it looks like they have this.

Has anyone bought or sold used gear through Sweetwater before?

It is kind of hidden under 'Shop By Category' at the very bottom or www.sweetwater.com/used

Generally like Sweetwater, but my friend’s recent experience and the fact that they carry vertex have dropped them a few notches in my book.
What's the deal with Vertex? I've heard of Vertex - just dont know much about them.

My sales rep always helps me with things that I approach him about but never calls or emails me just to "check in". I can appreciate that for sure. I will be sticking to Sweetwater going forward just based on some recent dealings with Musicians Friend (GC).

After selling me two previously used pieces of equipment as new, I stopped using SW. I got the "just checking-in with you" calls so often, that I had to request that they never call me again.

Same. The calls really, really got irritating.

TBH I don't have much interest in "new" gear that can be bought from sweetwater. Picks strings mic cables etc I'd rather support the local mom and pop

I saw that not too long ago also. It's basically Sweetwater's version of Craig's list. If you read the fine print it says that all transactions are made by the individuals and they take no responsibility for anything and will not be an intermediary in the event of a dispute. All it is a listing host page, no better than listing your gear in the nickel ads (does that even exist anymore?)
I'd rather buy from someone who lists on RT, I'd at least feel more comfortable buying from an active community member than some rando on the Sweetwater page

I don't find them any better or worse than the other main online retailers. I haven't had any issues with any of them. I don't buy from any often but if I do it's typically from MF since they have the points program. Though MF has started the cold calls and just checking to see how you like your gear bs same as Sweetwater. I do find that rather annoying. If I need your help I'll contact you, I don't need you to bug me in the middle of dinner.

My guy is great… super chill, calls it like it is, doesn’t try and BS me or give me terrible advice, a straight shooter on if something is gonna work or not etc. Sweetwater is great for me. Not to mention, who doesn’t love free money? 48 months no interest many times throughout the year? That’s a no brainer. You got a good job and good credit, make it work for you, it’s been great for me no doubt.

Yup, and this is why we have the 50-post minimum requirement peeps pop up and complain about here and there.

I feel the same way mate. That feeling of familiarity and knowledge that someone's interacted, contributed and been "judged" by the community as being on-the-level can't be bought.

When I got the calls I told them exactly what they want to hear. Find me a 74-82 Les Paul custom in white in mint condition and let me finance it 36 months no interest. Eventually it stopped the phone calls and they got the message.

My current sales guy from Sweetwater is ok but the guy I had years ago, Mark (can't remember his last name), was awesome! I actually enjoyed when he called and we would joke around, etc and you could tell he was an actual player, cared what I bought, etc. Sometimes we talked about stuff in the news, etc. He ended up retiring but wish he was still around.
