Tell me about ash. Good? Bad? Ok?

I just built this hard Ash PGM and went with an Andy Timmons (AT-1) in the bridge, and a Humbucker from Hell in the neck.

I feared it was going to be way bright, but I am very happy happy with the sound.

Did you build the body, or buy it? What about the neck?

I built a swamp ash Musikraft about 2 years ago and that thing rules. The wood is very light and resonant. I wouldn't describe it as a bright guitar, it's somewhat warm but with a ton of spank! Very percussive. I have Seymour Duncan Custom and Dimarzio Cruiser in it right now. It's a very pretty wood and looks terrifc oiled, only complaint is that it's VERY soft. So a light rap from a tool or something will leave a mark.

Did you build the body, or buy it? What about the neck?

Body was CNC for me according to my PGM 301.

The neck is the stock PGM neck that I refinished.

The entire guitar started as a PGM30.
