Tell me about the Fryette Deliverance

I've said it before and I'll say it [once] again, the D120 is one of the most underrated amps out there. Fryette knows his amps just as much as all the other sonic-masters, he takes his circuitry and build-quality to the highest ranks, and man, that cat knows physics!! Just sayin', incredible amps - player's amp too - the D120 doesn't cover up any glitchy playing...'least I found anyway :dunno:

I had the D120 and used it with the EH Signal Pad with great results. I strongly recommend this pedal for any one channel amp.

The man speaks the truth. Look, if you've ever wanted an SLO but can't come up with 2500, look for a used D60/120. I found more similarities than differences in the way the amp felt and the clarity was almost the same...great thump and articulation at high gain. Had a D60 at the same time as my first SLO and compared them side by side through the same cab. When I boosted the front end of the SLO, lead channel with an eq pedal(frown) and ran the D60 in more mode, eq'd similarly it was very close. SLO was a bit better but not by much. When you can get them for 800-1k used its almost a crime for the tone you get.

My good friend has one, I'll have to try it with the D120.

I'll likely do the More/Less mod for some added versatility, but if the Signal Pad works, that would be great.

This amp sounds perfect on paper, the dryness comments are a slight concern coming from 5150s and Rectifiers, but I'll translate that to tightness which would be a huge plus. But... oddly enough, I've not heard many clips that wow me. There's wayyyy more awful demos than good ones, and there's not many that give a good feel for anything other than high gain or very clean. It might just be one of those amps I will have to buy somewhat blind and try myself. I've told myself no more amp purchases 'til January though... yeah, right LOL

Have any notable albums been recorded with a Deliverance?

Unearth, III In the eyes of fire.

Ripping tone on that album.

Chris

I did an A-B with the 60 and 120 the 120 blew the 60 completely out! My friend sold his 60 and bought the 120. So much bigger but you have to run it with the cab. Tried several cabs and the VHT Deliverance cab sounded the best. Tight and you can dial in a metal crush out of it. Iy's my #2 behind a SLO!!! I sent the amp to Fryette and had the loop added and it was so incredible!!!!

Everyone always says the Fryette cabs sound best with Fryette amps. I've had both cabs and used them with my UL, a Sig X and a deliverance. I hated those cabs in every instance. I just didn't like the speakers I guess. Sounded boxy and like cardboard. The FB cab sounded better with v30s, but I much prefer my Splawn/Mills cabs with my UL these days. the mills has scumback H55/H75LD and the Splawn is a mix of v30s and h75 creambacks.

I can't fathom why anyone would think a UL or deliverance is too try or stiff. They are about perfect IMO. Maybe because they don't have the grainy fizz and compression of a 5150 or JVM.

i've had both the 60 and 120 at the same time...ended up prefering the 60. Also the D cab is amazing paired with these heads. The feel of the 60 vs 120 ended up being the deciding factor.Just feels juicier, and more marshally at high vol. The 120 sounds way bigger, but the 60 is big enough even for gigging without PA support in medium clubs.

P50e's are very divisive speakers. First of all they sound like ass until they're broken in. Secondly, I hate to say it but I think a ton of people buy these heads and a 412 cab and never get the MV past 9 o'clock on the amp. That ain't the way these heads/cabs work. I broke my 2 Fryette cabs in with a tone-test through my DAW, face down on a shag carpet (much like many previous girlfriends, HA!!, no seriously...) for about 24-30 hours at higher than medium volumes. Loosens the cones up and man, the difference was night and day. Sure, I could have broken them in by actually PLAYING, but considering my gigging jamming sessions were growing fewer and farther between, this was a good solution to get immediate results.

Deliverance and FB cabs are up there in quality with Diezel, IMHO. Built like tanks, perfectly finished, great wiring - and I'm one of the odd-ducks that prefers the Deliverance cab over the FatBottom. So it goes :dunno:

I prefer the Deliverance cab over the FB also.

I like the Fryette cabs also..... But prefer my cabs with V30, H30, K85/K100 and greenbacks with my Fryette amps.

Same here. I did an A/B with them and my D60 and chose the D412. I really need a D212... Great sounding cab too.

I lucked out and Didn't have to go through break in. The timing worked out that Steve had a set of speakers that just came off a Queen tour and offered them to me. Heck yes...

I'm just stoked Bob (dewd...) and Stephen also prefer the D cab over the FB.

I always thought I was odd man out. But hey, that's not always a bad thing, right? :D

To me the D412 is the perfect balance between a vintage style cab and the tightness of the FB412.

Definitely nothing wrong with OMO.

I tried the D412 with the D60. Liked my G12 65 cab better. Something about Eminence speakers I just don't gel with. Wasn't bad but the old Marshall cab was miles better to me. The D cab was tight though....

Biggest sounding amp there is...

Bigger than my Triple Rec? Man, I'd like to hear that!

No... But close

Speaking from experience playing side by side with the same cabs...
