Not really what most people would consider an all out metal amp these days, as evidenced by the missing E and A.

The lows are big and punchy, but not in a typical metal chug way.
Lots of gain but its a very uncompressed gain structure so palm mute riffing requires much more effort on behalf of the player.

80's metal like that, absolutely yes. Not the best choice for anything close to Mesa Recto chug chug metal.

Is it insanely loud? Unusable for home use?

Its master volume works extremely well, in conjunction with the bright knob and tone controls. They still feel quite 'alive' at low levels when dialed in correctly.

i have always wondered about the new metal series and in comparison to the current mc2.

it has a few more ways to adjust the gain.

it would be great to sit in a room and actually play em both side by side.


would like to jump on one, but too damn pricey to "buy to try" kind of thing!

Well, in this day and age, it's proven difficult to unload ANY amp with an asking price of $3k+.......Economy, blah, blah, blah!
