EDIT: reply to carlygtr...and yeah, I've been playing since 1971, too, back when you could still order a full stack from Marshall with metal handles and S&P cloth. So what? Doesn't mean I know everything, and I can admit it.

I've had 5 players bring over that PT builder's (for fun/etc) amps to try out speakers here at the shop/demo room. There was one that survived the car ride on the So Cal freeways here without something coming loose, the other four didn't.

Sorry, but that's a fact. Not trying to slag the builder, but when someone pulls out their amp from the back seat or trunk, plugs it in and it makes some farty/crackling noise that it didn't in West LA/Hollywood/San Fernando when they left an hour ago, that means something came loose during the car ride. Usually it was a loose solder joint. I saw the work done on the amps. Neatly laid out on the board, no real issues with the wire lead dress that wasn't fixed easily, not the highest quality parts, but then again, the price reflected that...but the solder joints were missing a ton of solder to make them reliable. They had the minimum amount of solder on them to hold the wire on, or into the board, turret, socket, etc. In many cases, just flicking at the wire in the turret with a chopstick would make it fly loose.

So four of them went to Carl / aka fusionbear as soon as it was seen that they needed to be resoldered. Once that was done, they seemed solid, tested Ok, no issues. But each and every one had that problem, and one had so little solder it had to be completely reflowed on almost every solder joint. That owner was pissed, and he had to pay to have it fixed. The other three were done gratis (no fee) since they were buying speakers and Carl builds demo amps and attenuators for me. That's been my first hand experience with the amps you mentioned. The guy just needs to use more solder and spend more time soldering it right before he ships them out.

As for the rest of your post, once again you resort to the personal attack over looks, or whatever. Get over it. Most of the guys in this industry are overweight, hell I was one of them until my food poisoning adventure (still ongoing I might add) that started at the LA Amp Show. But hey, 11 days in the hospital, three outpatient surgeries and four in the hospital and I lost 36 lbs!

But I don't rag on people for their looks, weight, and all that. That's just childish and immature.

I know you have issues with lots of people online (I'm sure I'm one of them since I don't believe most of your BS, and know better than you on many subjects you consider yourself expert on), but you might want to scale back your vitriolic diatribes when you can be point - counterpointed so easily, and wind up looking like a mean spirited troll.

Yet, in numerous Rockitt Retro threads (thousands of posts) nobody is complaining. Just you. The threads are there. I call bullshit....but you're a bullshitter from 1971. I'm sure every one of your shitty speakers never had an issue?

I had a crappy experience at another forum recently.
My solution? I just stopped going there. Simple.

See corrected post above. The builder was Retro King, not Rocket Retro.

Can't explain it, not going to try. I am only relating what I've seen first hand. I had intended to see RK at the amp show until I got sick. Instead I will email him about the issue.

You can call bullshit all you want, but I also got the amps fixed for free. I can also provide a customer name and email to Kevin if he wants it for the guy who had to pay.

As for my speaker issues, sure, I had a lot when my former supplier was still building them. Two came in last week that were four years old, and were blown. I've elected to replace them with new black frame models for the price of the recone fee. So let's not talk about whether or not I stand behind my product with actions and deeds to do right by the client.

You know, Carl, you have some intelligence, it's clear from some of your posts. Why is it you so rarely choose to display it, and carry on like this? What has made you so mad at everyone online? You can't always be right, you know. You can't always be "the man" and you can't always be at odds with admins and mods on every forum, can you? After surfing for 11 years online, though, I have seen that you consistently are "the guy" on these forums that the forum owners love to hate.

Haven't you got a life beyond the computer keyboard and slagging people that don't agree with you?

The hate is strong in this thread.

The only forums guitar-wise I am on are here and Sevenstring.org as most forums are like Nazi labor camps and if you don't agree with the mods or whatever fan-boy brand they all ball-coddle, you're banned.

I knew TGP, specifically that twink Scott Peterson were full of shit years ago. I'm surprised no one has caught up with the twink yet and punched his bald head in

To sum, do you think the whole organic and grassroots feel of TGP is more or less a rouse? I'm starting to think this, hence my thread on it. I just want to know about people's specific experiences.

By the way, who is Scott Peterson? A member?

Peterson is TGP. The entire place is corrupt, IMO. Peterson using "donations" to line his pockets. They favor certain builders there. The mods are corrupt, specifically the rotund slob, "Big Mike") aka "Fat Fuck" On a thread where guys were overjoyed w/ their plexi builds, made by a hobbiest, Fat Mike proceeded to butt in in an attempt to destroy the guy's sideline, even insinuating the guy wasn't paying taxes, etc.

Place is full of shit. I hope I one day hear Peterson got baseball-batted into the ground

Also...
Keep in mind Big Mike is a moderator. He can steer discussions and threads, even though he claims he is impartial when he comments on things. YEAH RIGHT! Big Mike was essentially slandering Rockitt Retro. Big Mike accused the guy of not paying his taxes, "stealing" other builder's ideas (it's a friggen plexi, how many times has it been copied) and numerous other nasty things. Part of the reason so he could keep his buddy buddy status up with the big name, big $$$ builders. I guess Big Mike got his pp slapped and had to delete TON of his posts in that thread.

How dare someone sell a Plexi reissue for so cheap! It's just not right! The funny thing is Big Mike the Big **** was predicting Rockitt wouldn't be in business that long with that "business model". Yet Rockitt has been very successful and numerous TGP'ers have bought Rockitt amps and they have great reviews.

And then exhibt B.... we have Scott Peterson. Holy f*ck is that guy a piece of work. If any dares question, or in any way, shape or form, suggest that that Snax Fx has any flaws he will swoop in on his Vespa and give you a serious thrashing. All IMHO, YMMV, it's a Monster, no it's just a box, I mean it's a monster box... it's a Snax lol. Again we have a part owner of the site, a moderator who is able to use his sway to direct conversations, and silence people who are going against the grain. Lol i recall him accusing someone who took a picture of their Kemper and Snax that the picture wasn't real! He then said he sent the picture to his LEO "friends" for image forensics and tried to tell the guy his picture was fake! lol what a piece of work.

tldr; do not question any of the sacred cows at TGP, certain builders/brands are off limits. Also BigMike and Scott Peterson are ****s

the end

That whole scenario was just fucking hilarious. He gets shown for the shill he is constantly.... that beat down was almost as good as the one he got on Huge Racks that spread to multiple forums.

Thing is he tries to help but he's such a sensitive bitch that feels the need to defend all things Fractal even when he has to know it's bullshit. It ends up making him look like a shill and grates on people nerves.

lol thanks for reminding me about the HRI thread, that was epic!

From the things that I've read on TGP, to the things I've sensed from the threads I've come across, I think the negative opinions about TGP and a possible hidden agenda/propaganda that occurs in that forum is legit.

That is my early feeling though. The comments are interesting nevertheless.

Oh well, I corrected the post I made (more than you'd ever do) and contacted both companies directly.

But since you haven't figured out that it's not Rockit Retro yet, and it is Retro King that had the problem, it goes to show your reading comprehension isn't too good.

And all of the rest of my observations about you and your posts are still valid, and not edited. If memory serves, MrIthinkIamperfect, I am not the only one who questions what you say online.

My guess is that will continue. Maybe when I have an online forum dedicated to me by someone you've aggravated enough with your inane drone posts, I'll feel I've reached your level.

But I'm not going to worry about that, or anything you have to say in the interim. I need to find that link...

I always chuckle at these threads. I know most of the TGP admins, mods, etc. I have a very uneasy relationship with Scott Peterson, and one other mod. Big Mike does question people's loyalties, affiliations and posts. Why? Cuz he's asked to by the admins.

I've been banned there (or given a timeout for two weeks) on three occassions now. Seems I can't let BS fly without calling people on it. I've learned not to think I can have "free speech" there, just as you can't on any forum that has "rules". Some of you forgot you agreed to those when you signed up.

Personal attacks about people's looks? Oh well, you get there when you run out of valid reasons to debate someone, you've lost the argument and it's all you have to fall back on now that you've been proven to have no facts/logic to your argument. Oh well, learn to stop arguing a point you can't win before you start arguing it.

Hype machine...ok...here you get the "fan boi" phenomena. You also have "shills", company employees masquerading as end users posting reviews, etc, etc. That happens on every forum. TGP just has the biggest user base (over 140k now?) if I'm not mistaken.

The recent pedal builders threads, exposee's and inquisitions as to whether they're "cloners" or not has been with some merit. You gotta thank Mike Landau for making an "open letter" statement. Not many have the integrity to do that.

Paid advertising subsidizing moderator shills that are unpaid? LOL It's $50 per year for a Gold Membership to support the server fees and be a manufacturer who can post ads/sales. I don't think shills work that cheap. You do get a bigger PM box (which I don't use) and an avatar pic. Big whoopee!

I pay more to have a banner at HRI, MetroAmp forum, and in Vintage Guitar than TGP.

Granted, I have seen some past issues with "Strat makers" (D'Pergo? and Suhr getting into it.The Suhr employee was fired). D'Pergo sued the TGP over the illegal use of shilling clients via PM from other manufacturers. Even though they didn't do it, they paid the price of having a PM system that allowed it to happen. That's why they now have a legal team, and stricter posting guidelines, too. You also don't get to post whatever slander, defamation and libel you want without PROOF. Heresay don't fly anymore, that's why some more outspoken members are banned, not only there, but here and at HRI as well. These leopards don't change their spots, they just change forums till they're caught doing it again.

I've certainly had my share of defending my products there (and here as well as other forums) from others who have their personal agendas, and either don't have proof, provide contrived pics as evidence, or use vague references to "what I bought from you sucked!". Yet when I called them out on it, they have no receipt for payment or paypal account in my records on file to prove they actually owned it to back up their statements. There's one sick guy here who falls under that category.

This kind of stuff is not TGP only, it's all over the net. Take it with a grain of salt. Realize some of these posters have an agenda...whether it's because they are just effed up in the head, or talked themselves into a piece of gear based on their friends recommendations. None of you should do that. All of you should try gear before you buy it. Learn to do your due diligence. Step up and do the right thing when buying gear, or shut up about your mistakes. It wasn't the manufacturer's fault you deluded or fantasized yourself being Hendrix just cuz you got some gear that was close to what he used.

Easy rule of thumb for most of the posters who have negative posts/experiences...ask them to prove it with something that would hold up in a court of law, documentation, etc. 99.9% of them will get shot down right then & there. It's no different than gossip you hear at a party. Either you're a gossip without proof believer, or you're not.

As for those who give others shit about what they can buy they can't afford due to having a bigger credit line or salary...so fucking what? I've seen Steve K and rockinchippy get haranged by members for being able to buy whatever they want. What is that? Jealousy, disbelief, anger, or gear envy? Whatever it is, get over it already. Stop opening up their threads when they post if you don't want to be made jealous of their latest purchase. I don't open their threads because the gear they're buying doesn't interest me (for the most part) since I have all the gear I need, and then some. Yes, I have pics to prove it, they've been posted here before.

If it does interest you and you can't stop your finger from clicking the mouse on their thread....well, then you have no self control and maybe you should stop clicking on their new gear threads and typing on threads like this where you bitch about it. Jeez, be a man about it, use some common sense, and keep your mouth shut. You whine like Steve and Alex owe you their gear cuz you're jealous.

Go get another job, buy what you want or STFU already. You can't blame people for working and buying the gear they want. I don't, neither should you.

And now it's time for more of my ulcer medicine. Jeezus, these types of threads really aggravate it.

Made me think of this: AWESOME!!!

Yes, it is awesome....and true

I've dealt with Scott Peterson directly and spoken with him on a number of occasions - he's actually a pretty damn nice guy.

TGP is a like every other large community of folks except it's the anonymous Internet so people display a bunch of extra bravado that they wouldn't otherwise demonstrate in person (like some of the comments in this thread).

Personally, I would hate to be an admin at TGP or any other large forum that is predominantly filled with men that have sensitive egos that need to be stroked. Seriously, being an admin on TGP has got to suck balls. No matter what you say or do, someone is going to give you shit about it just because they can.

From the things that I've read on TGP, to the things I've sensed from the threads I've come across, I think the negative opinions about TGP and a possible hidden agenda/propaganda that occurs in that forum is legit.

That is my early feeling though. The comments are interesting nevertheless.
This is pretty much where I'm at with it.

The latest Vertex fiasco shows that cheaters can be called on there out so that's good. Very painful though.

The cork sniffing that goes on in there is insane. The same as their FB gear page. It's strymon this, strymon that and packed full of fucking pedals that look like they were made by some dude in a garage somewhere. The focus on stupid retro gear is mind numbing. I lasted a couple weeks in there.

+1. Every forum will develop its own self-reinforcing group think and personality. It will morph over time as influential members come and go. TGP seems much less cork sniffery to me than it was, say, three years ago. TBH, this board "trends" quite hard, IMHO, much more than the TGP, I would say, probably due to the smaller pool of regular posters.

Anyway, wrt TGP, I certainly wouldn't over-credit the moderators for its content. They may help set the tone and may even censor, but a large number of people keep showing up and participating and that is what makes the group function the way it does. A lot of you guys sound like conspiracy nuts to me.

Big Mike suspended me for getting into it with some idiot that kept harrassing people. I had gotten him banned once, then he came back with a grudge. I ignored him for a while, then lost my cool and engaged him again. He started looking like the idiot he was, erasing his replies, until BM suspended us both. I emailed Scott, and he let me back on the next day, while the troll was finally banned for good. Win.

TGP is what it is. I use it to get manufacturers to build things I want. :) It's amazing how many ideas I've thrown out that become reality in very similar formats not long after.

One thing I like about this place, though, is that threads are usually linear......people read past the first post, and take your comments into account. TGP seems to run parallel. People just reply to the title, and don't care what anyone else adds.
