@MadAsAHatter phew, hahahaha you get exactly where I’m coming from!!!!!
I think that was a big thing my boss had to see for herself; that it wasn’t for a lack of trying on my end, but a refusal/inability/lack of desire to get with the program from him.
I think it takes a certain mind to be able to work in a field that entails the safety of others, the level of care has to extend outside of your self and depending on how you were raised and/or perceive the world, that may just not be part of your makeup. I just know I don’t sleep quite as easy when there’s an issue with an alarm panel or elevators. There’s a million layers of legal protection between me and a serious issue, but do I want to spend the rest of my life knowing that a failure on my end resulted in someone’s serious injury or death? Fuck no.
The tale of Jorge took a different turn yesterday. After the shenanigans last week and my boss having to interact with him directly, combined with his actions yesterday, we’ll be parting ways after the New Year. He has proven to be unmanageable even in the most basic of tasks and it only took one day after ALL the shit we said to him last week.
I’ll just detail the one that broke the camel’s back- The biggest thing we have been trying to instruct to him is “Just do what the work order says, nothing more, nothing less“, so I have a leak in a tenant space and I make a work order for him to bring some floor fans up to dry the carpet. This is how the work order was written-
“Bring floor fans to the _____ suite. This is the cubicle they need to go in”
“Under this desk, directly under the computer is where the most water is. Point the fans at this wet spot on the floor and towards the wall where the leak is coming from”
So in the midst of trying to fix this major issue, I run over to the suite to ensure he did what I asked him to. This is what I walked into.
In case that’s not obvious to everyone; that is a dry wooden floor where the carpet has been removed. It’s the office behind the cubicle in the pics. I started laughing and turned around, fully expecting him to be standing there to say “HA! Just fucking with you! I thought it’d be funny after the talk we had about me following work orders to a T”……but no. I was alone.
When I called him to ask him why he put it in there, he stated he thought that was the better place for it and there were carpet tiles there when he put the fan down.
Now, I know for a fact the carpet tiles have been gone for about 6 months because I’m the one that ripped them up after the tenant spilled paint all over them. Tenant wants to replace the tiles himself he just hasn’t done it yet.
So I went to my boss and said “Ok, ya got me on board, I’m ALL ears, we’re as basic as basic gets and this is what’s happening. I literally have to double check EVERYTHING he does and then correct it, every step of the way. I have 4 tenants melting down right now and an extremely involved electrical/chiller issue that can cost us a fortune to repair if I don’t make the right move and THIS is what I’m dealing with”
There was no discussion or debate, just “Start the walking papers”
