I'm considering citizenship by investment, there are several Caribbean countries (good for sailing), and a couple countries in Asia (not so good for sailing) that have different programs. on the low end, you're looking at $100K-$150K + fees, and it goes up from there, but it's done in 6 months to a year; some have residency and other requirements; there are also retiree paths to citizenship which take more time, require more residency in-country, but cost less.Where from?
I often see sailboats for sail due to the failing health of the owner; given the cost, I need to get at least 10 years of sailing, and a common rule for US retirement is "at age 60, most people have 1000 weeks of active lifestyle left, many will have less" - that's about 19 years; and I've seen many otherwise healthy people hit with cancer, aneurism, stroke, Alzheimer's, etc., and fade fast.
