Where from?
I'm considering citizenship by investment, there are several Caribbean countries (good for sailing), and a couple countries in Asia (not so good for sailing) that have different programs. on the low end, you're looking at $100K-$150K + fees, and it goes up from there, but it's done in 6 months to a year; some have residency and other requirements; there are also retiree paths to citizenship which take more time, require more residency in-country, but cost less.

I often see sailboats for sail due to the failing health of the owner; given the cost, I need to get at least 10 years of sailing, and a common rule for US retirement is "at age 60, most people have 1000 weeks of active lifestyle left, many will have less" - that's about 19 years; and I've seen many otherwise healthy people hit with cancer, aneurism, stroke, Alzheimer's, etc., and fade fast.

Hard not to feel that these days, but yeah, the world usually keeps turning doesn’t it.
that's what the ancient Romans thought too, before Rome was sacked a few times before it fell.

I'm sure the French thought that too before the German blitzkrieg rolled through to Paris.

I'm sure Americans in 1929 were not expecting the great depression...

Those Chinese in Nanking didn't expect a visit from the Japanese Imperial Army and what would happen to them...

Hiroshima and Nagasaki didn't expect to be nuked...

If things were great, I'd still want a bluewater ocean going sailboat to sail the Florida keys, Bahamas and Caribbean part of each year in retirement...I just wouldn't see it as means of escaping the US quickly and permanently.
