Your statement is just ignorant. I am not an Edge fanboy at all, but the guy has a great strumming technique and an ability to use effects better than most people. I would like to hear some of your great riffs or songs that you have written throughout your illustrious career.

While not a fan, I think he is a tight player, and what he does works extremely well in context! he gets great tones imo.

Speaking of Da Edge... I used to think this video was pretty cool back in the day...

Maybe you can take a vacation from working Burger King this Summer and give him some lessons on how to play.

And, show the Edge how NOT to use the English language. cUz I just dont no how sum people ever maid it passed the 6th gRaide. :aww:

I always got an odd vibe about Bono and Edge until I heard some actual interviews with them. Whether or not you like U2 or what Bono goes on about, Edge is a good player for one of the biggest bands ever, and seems to keep his cool about it. He doesn't pretend to be creating masterpieces, or that he's even a really good player, he just does what he does. I'd suggest a very good composer.

Check out "It Might Get Loud" and see he's just a dude. Both he and Page come off way less pretentious than White, for example.

god hes such a fag i wish he would die

Is someone holding a gun to your head, forcing you to listen to U2?

While few would ever define him as a true virtuoso of the instrument, he writes memorable music while being THE defining sonic quality of the band he plays for, as well as having a style that is almost instantly recognizable.

That puts him in some rather elite company as far as guitarist go.

I dunno.. I liked all 3. White may initially seem pretentious, but I admire his approach to what he does.

I personally wish the documentary had spent a bit less time on the history of all 3, and more on their current approaches (or, more clips).

There are some lonely pathetic trolls out there that post inflamatory remarks just to get replies. Such douchebaggery.....

I saw that Black/Page/Edge video. Interesting. The bit where he was by the sea with an amp playing with sounds was cool. What it must be like to have no financial or career worries, and just create. I admire his delay as a weapon type playing. Can't get anywhere near it.

I have always liked Page and how he grabs little things from various styles of music, production techniques, and even ways of thinking about life, and puts it in to an offering of his soul that ends up being a song. Of course sometimes a fat joint and skinny groupie provides inspiration. YMMV......

:hys: It's the grease from the fries on his fingers that makes him a better player than Edge.

I guess I meant less pretentious based on their respective histories. White starts off talking about stealing all their tricks, wanting bad guitars so he can fight them, all that sort of nonsense. Once they start playing together you get a better vibe about White, especially when they ask him about "7 Nation Army".

I do wish they would have covered more time playing together and just talking music. The history is cool, but the best parts were the interaction, playing songs, talking gear, etc. In the DVD there is a section that has Page showing them how a theremin works, and he's an ace. Both White and Edge are just staring in amazement.

the Edge rules...

the guy has created more memorable hooks with his guitar and effects than just about anybody... He's more of a "big picture" type of guy than some kind chops player... why would that make him suck?

This. And yes, the AC30 tone there is ridiculous! :inlove:

He basically invented his own style of music and and explores the crap out of that style. There is other styles of music out there besides extreme metal. A good song is still a good song no matter what style.

We could all probably learn a thing or two from the Edge. Oh yeah he has an honorary doctorate from Berkley too. You call him Dr. Edge!! :gethim:

this is funny though...

This song was supposedly written about the daughter of guitarist "The Edge." Yeah, that's his nickname: The Edge. I used to think names like "The Edge" or "Spike" were cool, but then I turned 12.

The only way I could ever respect him is if he shouted some stupid catch phrase before every concert like "WATCH OUT! THE EDGE WILL CUT YOU!" That might almost be stupid enough to be cool again with the dumbass hipster crowd, until the next stupid trend shows up at Hot Topic for you to oversaturate and ruin.

"I don't know why, but we always had this belief that there was something sacred about our music, that it was almost holy."

-Bono, pompous asshole and lead singer of U2
Cocky, high-handed, imperial assholes.

Ever been to a U2 concert? F'kn unbelievable... The sounds that come from
the Edge live are mindblowing. You forget he's playing guitar and just hear music coming
from him. U2 are a incredible band. I'm not a die hard fan by any stretch, I give props where
props due. Each band member brings home 1Mil a show after merchandise is what I've heard from
a good friend in the industry. Also who does U2 sound like? I thought so!
To be that original and succesful is non existent these days.

Another Harmony Central Troll heard from :gethim:

How about just creating your own website for your type of people. You can call it "Hater's Central"
