I was at a car show in Grand Rapids MN years ago, and this old timer had a baby T-Bird with a 427 SOHC stuffed into it. My jaw hit the ground when he fired it up. My all time favorite engine!

I stupidly passed on a N.O.S 427 SOHC still in the crate, in the late 80's.....it was $20,000 at the time. I bet it's worth 10 x that now.

No. They used a 427 side oiler, which had pushrods and cam in the block, and is an amazing engine as well.

The 427 SOHC was banned from Nascar due to competitors crying about it. It was a monster.

Very similar engine block. Heads are completely different. Mostly used in drag racing, in Top Fuel and Funny Cars, some A/FX cars too.

The 2nd pic i posted is the 1964 Indy 4-cam engine. Small displacement V8.
