Yes Bob, I AM Stalking you. :inlove:

Looks like Bob was Carl's bandmate a few years ago...

Enslaved – slowly turning from viking/folk/black metal into psychedelic rock
Moonsorrow – folk metal
Bathory – granddaddy of many extreme metal styles, protector of northern heritage
Windir – mix of folk and black metal
Wolves In The Throne Room – atmospheric black metal from the US
Dark Fortress – black/thrash metal
Therion – Secret Of The Runes, metal successfully mixed with a choir and classical orchestra
Sólstafir – psychedelic metal
Dismember – one of the oldest melodic death metal bands
Kreator – one of the oldest thrash metal bands

I think some of these bands are under-appreciated despite making music that even people who are not into that particular genre might actually enjoy. Some people think that everything even vaguely related to black metal is about invoking satan for gullible 13-14 year olds, or back off because there are a few screams thrown in here and there...

None of these bands are '80s hair metal though... :D

80's metal bands Icon and Rough Cutt were underrated. I think Kings X is the most underappreciated hard rock band of all time.
+100, absolutley, Kings X had more content in one song than most bands from that time had on whole albums. No one will ever have a tone like Ty did on thier early albums, probably not even Ty! I never figured out why he changed his setup, unless stuff blew up, and he just could not replace it. He was using the preamp out of a gibson head { not sure which one } into a mcintosh pwr amp, one of the sweetest and unique tones ever. I think his tone lost a little of its identity when he started using heads that other people were using, but I still love his tone. Ty is the man!!

Oh hell yea....some fun names here already. Here's one from each side of the pond>

LOVE/HATE & SAXON

Heres to you UltraGary, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSc68xEpmHE

Your clip got me watching a bunch of their stuff online for a while..."Awesome!" Their Power&TheGlory album actually still sounds pretty cool to me today (though a lot of their stuff certainly hasn't aged so well).

Thats my favorite thing about these threads you end up seeing bunch of stuff you havent seen in awhile and maybe something new

Death.

Chuck never gets enough respect from anyone other than true metalheads.

I'm going to go with Voivod and Candlemass.

I'm starting to change my opinion on Kings X being underrated, since they are mentioned in every "underrated" thread on the internet. Love Kings X, not underrated, just not as popular as they should be.

I'm with you on Voivod. Regarding King's X, it amazes me how radio friendly some of their stuff is, yet radio would rather play Sweet Home Alabama for the 10,000,000,000th time. It's a shame so much of their stuff has gone by unnoticed. Not sure if they qualify in the metal category though...

the band "trouble"....why they never ended up being huge is beyond me...

I LOVE Trouble! That's my Chicago roots showing there

Believer "Sanity Obscure" & "Dimensions". The latter album was way ahead of its time (1993).

Artillery "Terror Squard".

I tend to agree.

Arch - era Fates Warning was also very underrated.... Awaken the Guardian was one of my favorite discs from that era (despite a really bad mix).

Mercyful Fate and the first few KD discs, also kind of underrated, though his voice certainly isn't for everyone.

Yes, all those bands there were awesome, during that period anyway.
