Pete,
Awesome demo and all of your work is great. How does the Plexitone respond to having the KoKo boost before it with the mid boost engaged? Does it get into the modded plexi sound?

Thanks,
Joseph

Another great demo Pete!!(as usual) That sounded great!!(as usual)

Inspiring demo Pete!
Forgive my ignorance on this (Looking for anyone to answer)...
Is the point of this pedal to sound Plexi-ish into a non-Marshall based amp? I really dig the tone, but does it make sense to plug into a Marshall? (I own a Vintage Modern)
I guess I have the same question about the Bogner pedals. What kind of tonal differences to I have to gain?

Yes. I've had two of the original Pexitones and I find that they're great for making clean to slightly hairy amps into cranked Plexis ala EVH, etc. I'm currently running my PT into a one-off Straub "Hurdy Gurdy" 6L6 head (think vintage Blackface, and JTM with the boost engaged). As far as I'm concerned, the PT is the perfect "fly date" piece of gear. I have taken it to band tryouts/practices where I had no idea what amp would be waiting for me -- with the confidence that I'd be able to get a usable or great plexi-JCM800 tone no matter what I was plugged into. I also run the PT into the green channel of my DSL50. It was tonal bliss into the Blue channel of my XTC Classic (in Plexi mode). I find that for getting from zero to crunch or lead, this pedal is awesome. For slightly adding some hair and tightness to an amp already developing full drive, I prefer my OCD (settings at low gain, high volume) as it seems more articulate when used that way.

What I like about the original PT is that it's got crunch AND lead channels... not to mention solo boost. It takes up a lot of real estate, but it's worth it. I do have to say that I am interested in the increased mids of the new pedal though. Would prefer to have a mod done on my original model that added some of those mids, so I could keep the 2nd channel and solo boost.

Pete... awesome demo as usual. I bought my first PlexiTone based on your demo (also bought a TC Nova System based on your demo of that as well). Everything you've demo'd has proved to be awesome... but you could make just about anything sound that way.

    Sounds KILLER being hit with the Koko. The mid boost just takes it to the next level for leads.

It likes a clean amp- I don't really think of it as a pedal to push an already dirty amp. And I suggest a fairly "neutral" clean tone- Warm, clear, and full.
