Well, I agree with you on Analog Man stuff. I mean it’s overpriced for what it is, but you know how it is. Sometimes something comes along and it just seems perfect, and you gotta have it, and the price don’t matter. It’s part of the fun of being a guitar player, I guess.

I mean these guys aren't Analog Man and yeah his shit is pure insanity......

But I mean IME I've always tried the nicer stuff, give it a try and go back to the classics or discover them for the first time and find it makes me happier *_*

I don't know who Michael Landau is. The little house on the prairie dude? Josh is a great player but I see nothing exceptional about his tone vs other excellent players doing blues stuff, which would include guys like Kirk Fletcher who seems to run with him frequently. I actually like Kirk's tone better on stuff like "keep on pushing" and related. I do think he sometimes uses a Vemuram Jan Ray but not sure what his regular rig includes and tbh don't really care as I'm not really a pedal junkie or chasing tone besides my own. Maybe it's to my detriment, I dunno.

I'm not knocking the pedal other than price and layout. It sounds real good. If it's worth $415 plus tax and shipping to you then by

I'd have a hard time convincing myself to pay $415 for a pretty basic looking pedal like that. It's a $250 pedal with an additional $165 worth of TGP hype to the brand name.

I've built my own version of this which was called the 808 Imperial ...

anyway .... they use Vishay caps including some axials .... I use the same caps in my builds .... same Alpha pots too

the only thing that really stood out to me component wise were the Gold plated Neutrik jacks ...... very nice ... now I got to go price some of those out

the TSV808 sold for stupid coin too ...

I still have one of these, its a nice pedal, i love it, but i would never pay the prices that these sell for today. But if prices keep going up then i will get tempted to sell it someday.
It says its a tubescreamer but its not the same as the other TS, its got a different flavor, not really sure of the right words to say, but sounds more refined and mixed and produced sounding tone when used thru a clean or slightly overdriven amp. Complete waste if you just wanna use it for a cleanboost.

These pedals look like the type a TGPer plugs into his 10 grand Fender amp clone with his private stock at a jam night and pays a guy to re tolex his amp mid gig to match the venue decor.

I watched a bunch of demos on this new pedal and I think it sounds pretty good. Pretty amazing actually for distortion pedal. Sounds like an amp to me.
Just ordered it!

I think the Vemuram Jan Ray pedal is basically a Timmy pedal, which I think sound amazing.. I wonder if this is also a different take on that circuit.

The Jam Ray is NOT basically a Timmy. It shares the same topology, there’s at lease 9 component differences which for a pedal isn’t minimal. That more changes that many pedal modders do and people will pay premium. Anyone who’s A/B’d the 2 circuits could easily identify the 2 with a high success rate in and A/B test. To my ears the Timmy is more transparent. The Vemuram to me adds color. Both can be dial in similar but natural tendencies you wouldn’t dial them in the same. People claim the 5150 and the dual Rec are Soldano clones. If you think they sound the same, they don’t. It’s about change the parts that make the most difference. Everything is based on something. People just apply different standards

A lot of people, most not technical loved to dogpile on them, but the make some great stuff. People place them for the high prices but I will say that it cost far more to make things in Japan. 10% tariffs on even low price items, companies pay double in taxes than a US company, and they’re made in Tokyo plus have a brass enclosure bs the cheap cast Hammond enclosure many use.

They’re are a little over $300 in Japan new. They don’t have an international distributor so stores in the IS pay full price them mark them is. I assure you than the Vemuram in the US is alot cheaper than a Timmy in Japan.

I have it a few days and it sounds really good.

I also just got another Friedman, BE OD. It’s probably the third one I’ve had by now.
For me, for balls to the wall, Trower, Hendrix high gain that I like, I still think the Friedman is one of the best pedals.

I use the JCM 800 analogy. Just change the cathode bypass on the second stage makes probably the biggest audible difference.

Anyone would be able to notice blindfolded just changing a single part

Next change the NFB resist. Again quite noticeable change at only parts.

Most Friedmam amp models have just a small handful of part variation. Is a JELa JCM800 copy. No nos it based on it? Yes. Most pedals and amps in the industry are based on another pedal and amp

Last comment on the Jan Ray claim of being a 1 for 1. There’s more differences than I original though. My comment was based on component I could easily see only.

Having owned a few and demoed many. I really think they improve every design they touch.
