The New Maiden album...

Yeah Tail Gunner is the stand out. I was super pumped when I heard that. I kind of felt like it was an Aces High Part II type of tune. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad, it is just that it didn't sound as epic as the albums that preceded it. Seventh Son might of had a lot of verb and delays but it sounded so huge. Same with Somewhere in Time. They had this sound which just consumed the listener.

I remember an interview with them before No Prayer saying they wanted to go back to a stripped down sound. I prefer 7th Son's sound, but No Prayer is still a good album. That and FOTD had a dark sound, which I enjoyed. It was a nice change.

Adrian still smokes though, shits all over everyone else in the band guitar wise I always say!

This x 100. I can't stand Jannick..........the original band minus that joker has always been Maiden to me.

I can't stand Jannick.. the guy is so sloppy and annoying to watch and i never understood why Adrian let's him play some of the solos.

Agreed 1000%. I understand he contributes some songs, and he did stick with them through their darkest days. Still, I think he looks foolish with poor live playing.

Album was back ordered on Amazon, so finally got "Book of Souls" Liking it so far, but just started on the 2nd disc.

Its been a few months since it was released, curious what people's thoughts on it now.

I love the album. It's not their best ever, but it's the best since FOTD IMHO. Empire Of The Clouds is a great song. One of the best I've heard in years. If Eternity Should Fail is great, Speed Of Light is great, When The River Runs Deep has a great Powerslave feel to it

There's a few I don't get excited about. That's cool. For 30 some years of putting out albums, they still have some great stuff in their heads.

Disagree. I recon that honor would/should go to Brave New World.

The one thing that Book of Souls does well, is as though Maiden made this the natural progression from NPFTD.

I don't care for Brave New World. Too much repetition without any layers coming in or out to help build the songs. I just listened to it a few weeks back, thinking some songs would be better if they cut a lot out The Wicker Man and Ghost Of The Navigator are awesome though. All my opinion of course.
