I came late to this so the only thing I have to say is I want an Axe-Fx now.

I was checking out the TGP thread earlier, and was surprised by how well everyone was taking the results. I guess they aren't ALWAYS as stuck up over there as people say

It definitely sounded great... but starting at 1:44 it sounded like they just unplugged the mics or something and got the audio from the video camera.

I noticed that also, but I just thought it had something to do with him switching guitars and maybe levels were off. Either way, he is getting some killer rock tones!

I'm stoked Pete pulled this outa his hat, that someone with his extremely vast skill set and experience with top shelf gear put in the time for an A/B test like this, I really am. Somebodys always gonna blame a piece of gear for some great fault, the list is endless, it's just great to see the Axe get a little legit respect that it deserves, and once again Pete proving the right piece of gear in the right hands can work beautifully and it's more about WHO is playing and what CAN be done with gear than what it CANT do.
I've heard some of the biggest POS combinations work incredibly in the rehearsal studio AND live and been amazed, and heard some multi amped, multi mega bucks rigs that sounded like doo doo. I find guys who really take the TIME to MAKE something musical, usually succeed...

Cliff and crew have nothing but my genuine admiration and love with all the fun I've had with my Ultra and the 10.1 download, and I'm glad I get play on something that 20 years ago was thought to be impossible, a solid state unit that can replicate AND replace a Tube amp. I love my tube amps, there is one Manufactuers Meaty tube amp in particular I still dream of owning, but having THIS many amps that I'd NEVER be able to afford in my current financial life, and a sound effects section that pulls my weak skills from personal boredom to fresh inspiration with a flick of the switch, yeah, the Marsha sim IS wow, and this seems like only the beginning with what Fractal keeps pulling outa THEIR hat. My Hats off!!! Versitle Bang for the buck in one unit? IMO this is unbeatable. Id personally like to see Fractal legitmately occupy the heady spot theyve created themselves amongst players from all styles/experience/backrounds.

Oh man, are you guys gonna nail me for this....I can most certainly hear the difference between the two. The first one has a less meaty lows and low mids character, as well as a very slight, yet audible "haze" in the treble. Just listen to the one second @ :33-:34. Excellent body to that chord. Its just not there @ :08-:09! Thats what is always missing with modelers IME. Now these are very small differences and would NOT be evident in a proper mix IMO. The axe fx is MUCH closer than Line 6. All that being said I'm starting to GAS for an axe fx. I think the haze could be dialed all the way out with some tweaking in a DAW, possibly just tweaking in the unit itself. One million amps for $2000 is a helluva deal.
