The unfortunate death of the previous 25w Diezel, and subsequent 30w RMS toy head, has left a void for the long-demanded low-wattage Diezel. I have come to the conclusion that a Hagen 25 would be the best choice of all and I'll explain why. Let me just point out that, in my personal experience, the Hagen is basically kind of like half VH4/half Paul so make of that what you will.

1. The Hagen is the most open, least compressed sounding of all the Diezels (except maybe the Paul)
2. It has the best clean channel of all the Diezels in my opinion (the Paul being equal or an extremely close 2nd)
3. It has a lot in common with the VH4 lead channel except a bit more versatile - as far as I'm concerned
4.Channel 4 is mega saturation but still really great.
5. Whether Peter would decide to use a single KT77, EL34s, or whatever kind of tubes, I think a 25w amp would not be nearly as good with as much compression as say a Herbert.
6. The D-Moll is already kind of a Herbert little brother in nature, the VH2 is Diezel's trimmed down VH4, and the Paul is kind of just a different animal, but they're all extremely loud and heavy amps.
7. Nothing would look cooler aesthetically than a smaller size Hagen as far as I'm concerned.

I still wish Diezel would accommodate us with a serious low-wattage, big-bottle amp like say the Bogner 3534. Big, heavy, ridiculously loud heads just aren't practical for most players these days. Even though a power tube quartet generally sounds Fuller overall, I can't see why Diezel hasn't taken the small amp direction more seriously.

Don't get me wrong because I'm not criticizing Diezel at all. I love their amps, and perhaps they have specific reasons for not following through. It's just that so many of us want an affordable, lower wattage Diezel but it never materializes.

I'll say this: If Diezel won't build a new 20w or 25w amp then at least they could bring back the Schmidt (preferably at a more accessible cost). If there's an amp people want resurrected the most, the Schmidt is at the top of the list.

The Hagen, in my opinion, would be the best 25w of all existing Diezels. Either way. I just hope Diezel does something for the low-watt tube amp category because the little 30w SS amp sounds like a dry toy. I prefer the Zerrer way more. In any case, what is your preference - should a 20 or 25w Diezel be a new design, small version of existing model, or a resurrection of previous model?

My Herbert sounds pretty good at low volume, and a new 25w Diezel would probably cost more than an used full sized one.
