+1 to Akira and Gus G

Gus G rules! He's one of my favorites of the "newer" generation of guitarist out there!

A few years ago, when he was still giving lessons, I emailed him about getting some lessons and we had it all worked out, but then he got way too busy (he was playing in multiple bands at the time) and had to cancel. He was always really nice in his emails. Always willing to answer all of my questions.

After seeing them live I'd go with Daron Malakian and Jerry Cantrell. Maybe DM is too well known to be underrated, but he's got rhythm. Plays a cool old SG too.

Greg Sage
Steve Albini
Eddie Hazel
Keith Levine
Peter Laughner

Steve Albini

That dude does rock indeed. Just saw him last summer touring with the New York Dolls. Great player.

Mike and Chris Amott
Peter Wichers and Ola Frenning
Criss Oliva
Daita
Dan Swano
Christopher Malmstrom
James Murphy

Alex Lifeson of Rush. I didn't realize how good he was until I had to learn some Rush songs for my cover band.

Neal Schon
Frank Marino
Steve Stevens
Doug Aldrich
Eric Gales
Joe Bonamassa
Michael Landau
Dave Meniketti

And HUNDREDS more

If a guitarist does not give props to Alex Lifeson he needs to drop the guitar and walk away...nuff said.

Christophe Godin
Dave Martone

Meh, I dont think that Lifeson's underrated at all. I think that hes a really good player but to me, Rush is more a sum of its parts than it is about the individuals( and again, Im not knocking any of them, theyre all baddass at what they do)

John Sykes.

The reason why I say that he is underated is because a lot of guys even to this day think that Viv Campbell and Adrian VandenBurg were the guitarist featured on the 87 album. It used to piss me off to no end lol :D

Sykes owns!
