takes getting used to. took me at least a week of playing a couple hours a day. but cool and fun when you do. I had a couple yngwies with the deeper scalloped frets.
They are different. You cannot play it with a heavy hand if you want to have any speed. You cant really do any sliding horizontally and you can bend entire chords flat or sharp which can be a good thing or bad thing.
I like them to an extent - but they force perfect technique and light picking. Otherwise you'll grow to hate it. If you can play one with ease it will make regular necks and your overall technique much better
it's definitely one of those things that you need to try out yourself....I dig scalloped boards, but like the scalloping to be from the 12th fret on....
My main guitar is scalloped and I love it. Jumbo frets go a long way towards preventing flats/sharps. I'm hardly a finesse player and I seldom find it a problem.
