Summary: Went to a lighthouse. Started at the beach. Looked at a stretch of land far on the horizon with my binoculars. Could barely make out anything. Went to the top of the lighthouse now probably 50ft higher and bam. Guess what? I could see structures and landmarks with those binocular. Why? Because the Earth has curvature and now I'm higher up. So if I take that observation and add my many plane flights and then add my observations of total eclipses I can validate with a great degree of confidence that the Earth is indeed round (a globe rather). Oh and then there was that massive pendulum attached to the top of Mammoth Cave in KY.

^There are several (many) around the world. There is one in Missouri not too far from me. You hang a heavy ball from the ceiling of a cave and as the world rotates, the pendulum swings back and forth in the same direction but the cave 'moves'. But if you stood there and watched for yourself, it would appear the pendulum is moving.

That isn't really conclusive evidence for me. If a raised platform 50 ft in the air generates reliable proof then a curved, globe earth would've been believed by medieval man, but it wasn't. We are inherently limited by our perspective.

Optical distortions and refraction are often used by science to "debunk" anything other than a globe but it seems to me if there are optical distortions then similar distortions might lend one to falsely believe earth is ball shaped. If light can curve, then really all bets are off for visual deductions. Regardless, every claim for a particular shape is nothing more than a model, speculation, a theory based on observations, which again, are subject to potential distortions, among other possibilities. Unless you believe NASA composites and videos, which I don't.
