always thought that part was William Kanengeiser and not Vai given his classical training(Kanengieser) , not saying Vai could not play it but I read that somewhere.

Looks like it would be a tough piece to play.

It really isn't, at least the really "scalar" parts in the first section

I had the tab for this years ago and was able to make a pretty good go of it when I was younger.

This is not meant to detract from her playing, which is awesome and very precise, but its not the hardest piece, and I was never able to play it that well at all.

Not having a go but what's in bold is pretty funny.

Yes, I see that, lol.   I meant, I guess, that I couldn't play it as well as she could. There's plenty of other stuff that I can't even begin to play...plenty.

meh I reckon I have better tits ......... and i'm a guy :gethim:

She seems to be about 12, and can definitely play her ass off; shocked to see anything but positive comments, about a young girl.

I'd love to see the "anyone can play anything" crowd post up...too many people here have more gear than talent... fucking ridiculous...

How can any guitarist hate that?!!! CROSSROADS RULED!

Vai ruled in that movie too. Love it!
Agreed, Vai sounds fantastic here!

The blank stare on her face reminds me of a trained monkey... Unimpressive to me, sorry... No heart and soul going into that playing...

Yup. I love the tune and wish I could play it. It's cool that her hands are faster than mine (giggity), but technical skill is nothing without really 'feeling' it.

Anyone know if Ralph Macchio went through puberty yet?

 Don't know Bob.... I just looked back through the thread and seemed me most people were posting positive remarks about the OP's clip. The only dog piling I saw was other people on Phil Jacques for saying he didn't find it that impressive.

I agree with you that if a fellow forum member posted a clip doing the same thing there would probably not be any negative comments. I don't think that has to do with gender or whatever and think that's mostly due to the fact people tend not to be critical to people's face or "forum face". :D

I would agree that many past threads of this type have been far more negative, but without even quoting Jacques, this is a good percentage of negative.

She has some decent chops and thought she played it fine, a bit cold but she'll warm up with experience. Only knock I have is her tone. This is Eugene's Bag of Tricks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8eymimAV8k

My thoughts exactly! I don't give a shit what sex they are because while that's impressive technically.... beyond that it's not interesting to me at all.

Sounds like a musical sewing machine to me now, but I can see why some would still like that type of thing. I was into this for a short time in the 80's, and even blended some of that with my own style.

I didn't think my post on this topic was overly negative. I said she has chops and played it fine. That's a negative? I guess not liking the tone and a mention that it was a bit cold makes me a negative, jealous, wannabe know nothing about guitar fool

Here's some emotional passion for you guys. Just skip his talking section. :D

Most of those seemed fair to me and not necessarily negative. As always it's pretty much about people's perspective I guess.

I don't believe that. You still have to have a certain skill set that not everyone has. I get what your saying to a point, but I just think that rote exercising at some point has a law of diminishing returns and some will just never reach that pinnacle.

And she played that fairly well.

It wasn't overly negative, and you did have something positive to say. This thread actually isn't nearly as bad as many I've seen either, but some of the comments just kill me because if one of us played that half that fast we'd be bowing to the crowd as everyone was giving each other high fives and slapping each other in the arse.

I guess sometimes I just get really tired of how critical we guitar players are generally.

Didn't watch the whole thing but I liked his playing.

I think she was great. She wanted to demonstrate her ability to play and very difficult piece of music and she did it with excellence. With that type of skill level, she can probably play many other types of music but that was not the purpose of this video. I applaud her for taking the time, energy and devotion to the instrument to play at that level. Cheers to her!

this goes for guys like yngwie as well, i see hate on him saying "no soul, plays too fast" and i think its simply because the people saying that crap cant play anything like that, they hide their jealousy in the "no soul" crap all the time, in reality they wish they could do that. yeah keep playing your pentatonics.

I think your onto something here, there is some kind of psychological link to these type responses and threads. Although I'm mostly a pentatonic type guy
