... buy more gear. They've graciously allowed you to pick up one more piece of equipment, but that's it. No clever "I'll buy two by changing the rules, etc". That would mean divorce, dishnonour, disaster.

What would that piece of gear be? Amps, guitars, studio equipment, whatever.

But only one.

Last gf said playing guitar was a waste of my time. Saw her last 3.5 yrs ago.

That said, I'd grab a Wizard or Ground Zero amp, and spend my time & $ on motorcycles.

Philips power amplifier.

EL34s for preamplifier tubes, 3000 volts on the plates, 1000 or 2000 watts from a pair/quad of QB3,5/750 and mercury rectifiers. The other ones in the series are 5000, 10000 and 20000 watts.

My plan was to grab only the Triple reissue this year, and that's it. Did that, and indeed it slays every Recto I've owned prior. And every Mark. Best Mesa I've had yet. Well, a Randall Century popped up so I nabbed that too(no, not for 2 or 3k lol). Even better than the RG for THAT sound. Then, out of nowhere an 87 Jackson Strat reverse pointy ebony board with sharkies in Cobalt blue ALSO pops up, and I had to. Damn. I've had to do some surgery to the neck pocket as the idiot prior owner shaved the neck pocket for a different neck...but it shimmed up fine.
For my next act I 'might' be trading in my Camaro SS for a brand new Corvette.
Because I don't give a shit what she thinks.

Get the 'Vette... it's worth it. The changes they've made to the interior are a major improvement.

I'd buy a decent guitar for once. Something over a grand, maybe an ESP or Gibson LP or explorer. I usually buy second hand beaters that I upgrade with better pickups. Been playing since 1996 too, haha. I guess the best guitar i've ever owned was a Gibson SG and the Viper 1000.

Actually the Century 200 has the exact same circuit as the RG's, just independent controls for rhythm and lead channels. The Century 200 II is where they changed the circuit a bit, but it's still similar. Less low end in those amps though.

I don't give a shit what she has to say about gear. If i want something i buy it.
I dont waste money and if its not really needed I don't buy.
I'll usually trade something in.
Im not into anything super high end and keep it under $2000.
Like to live in the 800 to 1200 range
Like to buy used

That is terrifying.

I want a Mesa Boogie 2:90 simulclass power amp. Want to pair it with my Quad so that the Mark IIC/III sounds from it are more authentic than when I pair it with a Rectifier Stereo 2:100 in tight mode.

Accept No Substitute for the Quad or TriAxis. The 2:90 is Lord. :worship:

I know from firsthand experience (current ownership of all), not internet chat or clickbait youtube "influencers".

{palpatine] DO IT. [/palpatine]

Huh, that power amp you got would just be more inline with what a HRG would sound like, authentic enough IMO.

Same here. Back when I played out (early 90's), I had nicer guitars. Now I have a 2005 LP studio, and 2 Epi LPs. 1 Korean, 1 Chinese. I replace all electronics with the good stuff. New nuts also as the Chi Epi had what looked like a melted sprue from a model airplane

That is terrifying.
Why get an amplifier and go deaf when you can get an amplifier and go blind and deaf. I seen that video a long time ago and I think that's still the best looking amp ever created.

Almost every musician playing the Philips magnets. Tons of people love the Philips tubes. Might as well play their amplifiers too. Totally ridiculous but if I could I would.
