Actually the Century 200 has the exact same circuit as the RG's, just independent controls for rhythm and lead channels. The Century 200 II is where they changed the circuit a bit, but it's still similar. Less low end in those amps though.
It's a 170II....so it has the gain 'voicing' that the 200 doesn't have; but the 200 has separate EQs while the 170 has shared. It's basically a contour knob that easily scoops those mids out and makes it way easier to skip that step of an EQ in the loop to get that sound. Really a great amp and seems to have more tight lows than the RG I have. Not as collectible as the 200 or worth as much since Dime didn't use it, but cool nonetheless. The 200 is 120w @4 ohms, 100w @8 while the 170 is 80w @4 ohms and 50w @8.

Ya, I believe the Century 200ii has a contour control as well. Dime did own one of those.

J from White Zombie used the 200ii's as well, in combo with rectos to get his tone on astrocreep 2000.

I forgot to mention, I also picked up a Jaguar cab that dates from 1989. What a great match. Heavy as hell..particle board but sounds beastly. I have a Peavey 60/60 power amp I'm gonna run the Century through and get some thump going.

I'd get a Mesa Strategy 500. Do I need that kind of power to play shitty licks? Nah, but it would be badass

As long as you don't get dad pants, Hawaiian shirts, etc, to go with it for "tasteful" licks. Be vulgar.... ⚔️

I'd buy a decent guitar for once. Something over a grand, maybe an ESP or Gibson LP or explorer. I usually buy second hand beaters that I upgrade with better pickups. Been playing since 1996 too, haha. I guess the best guitar i've ever owned was a Gibson SG and the Viper 1000.

The Les Paul classics, especially the newer ones, are a serious amount of bang for the buck the last few production years

Some of the older classics are hit and miss, but the last few years gibson has been knocking it out of the park

There was a time when LP Classics were being produced with greenish trap inlays, not in a remotely cool way mind you (more like seasick green) at least until the early 2000s......what were they thinking?? o_O

"What were they thinking??" <--- That's the question that was asked a million times when Henry J owned Gibson.

Also, what happens to Henry when he takes Viagra? He gets taller.

My better half understands that guitars, fast cars, and big, mean guns come with the package. Besides, I pay for any toys I have independently and still cover all the responsible bases + investments, so what could she say??? 🤷‍♂️

Only place where she has limited victory is that I no longer have guitars on stands scattered in every room in the house. Now only certain rooms, to appear more ~adult she says.

If I could only have one more thing it would likely be a Morris 68 Brownout

I don't have any of those in my wardrobe and don't intend to add them anytime soon, so it'll be all good! It would be funny hearing "tasteful" licks out of a 500 😂

I'll just say it for everyone's benefit. "Don Johnson".

Gosh, everyone wants to bend the rules, but the chips are down now and so far your grade is F-.

Miami Vice and Hawaiin shirts that are mostly unbuttoned. Don Johnson was the lead actor.
Ahh gotcha. Miami Vice was well before my time, but I've seen a few clips that make me wanna watch it. Looks cool

No, I think you had it right. Some of those old shows have not aged well.

Did you at least see Thunder in Paradise? Hulk Hogan was in it.

The plot revolved around this super-powered boat that Hulk owned. All the criminals were using waterways. It got cancelled after a while because they ran out of cool ideas to show off the boat, which - get this - only plied on some river and not even the open sea.

Worth watching if you like the Hulk/want to see a super-power boat as conceptualised in the 80s/90s.

Nope, haven't seen that either. Sounds cool though! It's always fun watching old movies and seeing what they thought the future would look like.
I've watched a lot of older movies over the last few years, I like the vibe. The old stuff has way more soul than modern movies
