Great guitars! I love them and at one time I considered selling off all my guitars and going all anderson. The only thing that kept me from doing that was that I feel more comfortable on the Charvel type necks. The Anderson necks are amazing but there is something about the Charvels/GMW's that I like better.
If you can get one, I would highly recommend it!

Hey Ralph, thanks for the info!

Do you have an Anderson now?

I absolutely love my Drop Top. Best playing guitar I've ever laid hands on, and provides the baseline (and a high one) whenever I play another guitar. I ordered mine through Wildwood, so I picked out everything - woods, pickups, finish. It was expensive, but worth every dime. Never played a Suhr, but I'm sure they are in a similar class.

Now the pickups - I can see why some people may not care for them, but they work great for me. I also love the Switcheroo - have the mini-toggles set for one tone, then bypass to full bridge hum with one flick of a switch.

Sounds like a broken record (at least its a good one) with everyone posting in this thread...

I love the Anderson H3 pickup which i loaded into the bridge position of my GMW! I tried many pickups, including duncans and also the Suhr Aldrich pickup.. and the H3 Anderson bucker literally brought the guitar to life!!

yes!

I have the one that I bought from John Perry. It's the one he used in the Jeyckll and Hyde demo video.

I remember that videoclip! John's a sick player!

Does your Anderson have the Switcheroo or standard switching via 5way?

What dya think of the Switcheroo system?

Mine has the 5 way with push a push pull pot and a phase switch. I much prefer that setup to the switcharoo but that's just me!

To me, the switcheroo boils down to (simplistically) a pick of -
1. Do you typically prefer switching between two pickup configurations - one being just the bridge humbucker?
2. Do you need to switch between different configurations quickly that may or may not use the bridge humbucker?

If you are in bucket 1, which I am, the switcheroo is great. I don't tend to set the middle and neck for series coils. I don't tend to need to switch between positions 2 and 4 (if it were a 5 way switch) within a song.

If you are in bucket 2, then the switcheroo would be a royal pain in the ass.

I've had my droptop since 1996. It is easily the best playing guitar I own and one fo the best I've ever played in my life. As far as construction and build quality don't even think twice. It's as good as anything out there. It is only a matter if you are comfortable with it.

You still have that Ansderson huh John???? Great guitars.

Dan, Anderson is one of a very small list of makers that I would buy sight unseen and pay the premium, never played a bad Anderson.

My DT Basswood with maple quilt is my #1!

Both of the ones I had were amazing. I just wish you could get a mahogany body instead of alder and basswood.
Mahogany is definitely an option on any Drop Top  If you guys need anything or any info on Tom's stuff, let me know.

I've owned a few and liked them a lot. My favorite was a Drop Top with Basswood body and a maple top.

This was an Alder bodied Drop Top with Maple top. I didn't like the tone of this one, but that's not suprsing since i don't dig Alder and it's got a FLoyd stlye tremolo.

Hollow Basswood Drop Top. Sounded good for a Hollow guitar.

Cobra. This thing was pretty nice. I actually wasn't 100% comfy with the neck. It sounded pretty good.

This Drop Top on the left was my favorite one. I loved the tone and the feel of it. Should have kept that one. Times were tough though so i had to sell.
