Trump cleaning up DC

Budget cuts to the police are nothing new, I mentioned Trump because A) that is what the thread is about and B) my first post in this thread was a response to someone saying “do you see a pattern” or something of that sort.

again, DC has been in bad shape. Trump comes in cuts the budget yet again, then says it’s getting too bad and brings in the military, says he’s “fixing the problem” and the brainwashed masses cheer him on.

But as I said before he didn’t fix anything because once the military leaves DC is stuck with the same underfunded police that couldn’t keep shit together to begin with. Despite the misused cries of hyperbole, it’s logical for anyone to assume that either the military has to stay in DC for the foreseeable future, or the DC police will need to be revamped.

**If DC has been bad for so long, why another budget cut shortly before sending in the military?**

The pattern I see is this:

-take away money from something

-say they are doing a bad job

-declare an emergency and look like a hero for cleaning up a problem that he exasperated in the first place.

So when I say that he didn’t “solve” anything it is because all he has done is temporarily clean up a mess through military force. It’s like mopping up the water but not fixing the leak.
He will solve it when the police get what they need to do their jobs, and cutting their budget is not what they need to do that.

It's all good and fine to say everyone's brain turned to mush, but Dan, trying to pin DC crime problems on Trump is gonna be a tough sell even for people who don't give a shit about Trump. Or DC for that matter. Such as myself.

I’m not blaming Trump for the crime in dc. I stated several times it has been bad for a long time.

Well, I'll go back to my original comment. Perhaps the DC locals will get a taste of it not being a crime infested shithole and demand better policing. Barring that I'd agree with you. Can't have the feds there forever and when they leave if nothing changes with the DCPD and prosecutors it will go right back to the way it was.

I don't think throwing money at NGOs ostensibly for the homeless will make a damn bit of difference to anyone other than those NGOs and their employees.

Reports from both NYT and Fox News, both sides, agree that crime has been steadily dropping there for the last 2 years, you don’t find the timing of the “emergency” odd?

That's a different conversation, but I'll answer it. Yeah it's odd. And there's other cities that could use the intervention worse. I just heard on the radio that a shitpile of new FBI agents are going to be set loose in STL. To focus on violent crime. Local conservative talk radio guys are all touting it as a good thing. And here I am still understanding that none of the 3 letter federal agencies are trustworthy. More arrogant, pompous assholes doesn't seem great to me. I have three cousins who are current and former FBI and all three of them are complete assholes who brag about the power they have and being above the law.

I guess that's a whole other conversation though.
