HH Les Paul DC Alternatives?

I recently bought the CS version and am getting to know it. So far, I love it!

I went through a couple PRS McCarty 594 guitars to scratch my itch for a lighter LP alternative and they never sounded good. This Gibson is MUCH better sounding to me.

Dope. Great suggestion considering the body style. Unfortunately, upon a very quick search, it appears these came in red, yellow, or red/yellow. Wonder if there are any blues, blacks, greens, purples.

You might be able to find a black one, but they were generally the usual colors.

I'm surprised it took this long to recommend a pickup swap. I've never done one. I know they're easy, but I've never done one and don’t know if I want to start just yet. Idk.

IME a P90 can get plenty heavy like a humbucker; the problem would just be noise and feedback if you play loud. Otherwise, a swap probably wouldn't even be needed.

What about the Archtop Customs?
Found a catalog for sale on Reverb and grabbed some pics:

I've had 2 archtops. One was a studio flame top and it was an amazing guitar. The other was a Custom Shop # 1 of 9 made, flame koa. An incredible guitar that I wish I still had.
Any archtop you find will be a stellar guitar. Especially if it was made in the Arlington Heights factory. I would pay attention to the nut width as I think some of them may be 1 5/8 if you like wider widths.

Very happy with my 1963 Epiphone Les Paul Custom SG. The Gibson version is over $6K and will yellow with age.

Three Gibson pickups, wiring, real MOP inlays and Gibson headstock. I even sold a Gibson '61 Standard in white and kept the Epi.

For a dual humbucker hardtail guitar, I prefer the Ibanez PS10. The specs were based on Paul Stanley's favorite Gibson LP from the late 50s; now with Seymour Duncan pickups. I have the Epi LP Custom SG above, and recently got a Gibson LP Standard cherry burst with DiMarzio SD and SD2, grover locking tuners...but still like the PS10.


Checkout Ibanez for double cut, AR series. If you need a brand on the headstock, try ESP?
