Had the amp stuff and cab for awhile. Got this MPX G2 today and seems promising. I'm thinking to get a wireless unit to round it out.

how do you like the Signature 284 amp? I have this amp too, mine is flub as hell and very middy in an unpleasant way, I even post in tech forum asking for mods
maybe with 10 speakers is better, I only have 12 speakers in my cabs
this is more or less how I set it up too...but I can't find a tonal balance, better on clean sounds with single coils, but on crunch especially with humbuckers there is no way to get a satisfying tone even with eq and overdriveMine is definitely on the warm side but I like it better with 12's honestly. I just crank the presence and treble with a little less mids and the bass never goes past noon, often lower. What effects or other units are you using with it?
Two things.
Get a 1” thick piece of stout foam to rest the rack on.
Secondly, those MPX1 PSU’s get hot. Put it on the bottom. Turn off when not in use.
Might not be as pretty, but it will last longer.
Me, I like to leave one screw hole free between every rack, so they all have equal clear space.
The 50/50 is well ventilated if the fan is clean.
Since the other two racks have cooling vents on the left side, I would mount a 12V 140mm computer cooling fan firing at them, and give it 9V. Or a pair of smaller fans.
In 2022 I built a small rig based on a Marshall DSL40 and the MPX-G2. I used both a MPX1 and later an Intellifex unit for FX. Played a few gigs with it but eventually moved on but I did like the MPX-G2 as a guitar pre-amp. I ran it through the DSL 40 front end and through the FX Loop. Took a while to get it right but sounded great once we figured out a 4 wire setup would not work with the MPX-G2 and the DSL 40.
Yes, I had the DSL 40 chopped into a Plexi style head case.

That price is insane. In the 2010's you could get a nice one used for $300. I bought a 120/120 new in 1994. Had them both and a Boogie 2/90..i have the same MPX G1 and the 50/50. They are keepers.
I bought the 50/50 brand new for $100 when a local Peavey dealer was closing it's doors.
