Ugh, I want all the new Epiphone Futuras, especially the Flying V

Ordered both flying V’s. Let’s see if they’re any good

Just checked the site and it doesn’t look like they’re backordered anymore. Did they give you lead time or a ship date?

Got one of these today. Still have the other on order. Must say. I’m quite impressed. Had a Gibson too at some point. But the neck too big for me. This is good. Honestly not any more flaws than a USA Gibson.

Yo hell yeah! How's that color? Does it turn pink ever? Or is it always yellow? I wish they offered the Dragonfly or the Nitro on the V.

I didn’t even know these existed, I thought the Futara was a model itself, not a line.

This is going to be the 3rd time in 3 years that I’m going to check out some Epiphone’s after reading comments saying they’ve stepped up their game. So far, I have not found that to be the case. The Adam Jones sigs were….that fretwork and overall fit/finish was about the $500 level on the 5-7 models I tried. Then when they started using actual Gibson headstocks on them, I went and tried them again…..same shitty fretwork and dry, scratchy fingerboards. I went to 3 Guitar Centers in a row and played 10-15 of them in the same day, maybe 1-2 felt ok but the fretwork was junk.

I’d have no problem with either V if they actually feel good to play.

At the end of the day, I can get an Edwards for about the same price and despite the multitude of times someone has told me Edwards are on par with Epiphones, that might be the biggest “WTF are you smoking?” claim I’ve heard on forums yet.

Can’t speak for any other than this obviously. But fretwork is perfect. I think it’s a good guitar

I've had a couple Edwards now and three or four different Epiphones. No, the average 500-600 Epiphone is not on par with an Edwards but more recent offerings might have closed the gap to some degree with better pickups and such from the factory. They also want Edwards level money for some of them too so there is that.

See, I’d rather have a company step up the craftsmanship, fit/finish more so than the components. My trip for years has been ‘if ya got a good body and a good neck, you’re 3/4s the way to a great guitar’ because all the other shit can be swapped quite easily. Sell me an extremely well built bones of a guitar and throw a bunch of shit on it to keep the price down, fine with me as long as the bones are rockin’.

One of the GC’s south of me has the gold V in stock as well as a limited edition Silverburst V with an ebony board that I’m just as interested in, if I can actually leave work for more than 3 hours I might be able to check them out.

This has been my same thought for a long time.

Any feedback you can gather would be great but right now I still think a PRS SE will be my next, and final axe.

Those definitely punch far above their weight! I loved this one I snagged a few years back until getting that Strat with the 1” neck, it completely fucked up my ability to play thinner necks without my hand cramping too much. The top on that thing was insane on a $900 guitar.

I dug the semi-hollow thing and a few weeks back played one of the Shinedown dude sigs and LOVED it, got a big ole fat neck on it and it had a killer setup for being a used guitar at GC. I swear they made this one with a piezo bridge at one point, but I’m only seeing the new thinner ones with piezos, the only reason I didn’t buy it that day was due to the lack of them….even though I know I’ll likely never use them.

That thing is beautiful, dang!!!

I think I've settled on grabbing an SE custom 24-08 once I have the dough. Ebony board. The TCI version of the 85/15's seem fantastic. I don't give a crap about coil splits but some of the split coil tones I've heard in demos seem pretty impressive. Call me crazy but I'm digging the new sloped pickup rings in white. Gonna make it my new couch/blues jam axe.

Don’t know if it’s considered a “Futura” but I grabbed one of these off the wall locally a couple months ago. Nice substantial neck, not sure I’m in love with the mini humbucker though. Good looking guitar, nice hard case—def worth the $599 I paid

The routing might fit a p90. Back in the day, one of the ways to get a LP with P90s and not pay the custom shop price was to put P90s into the LP deluxe which came with mini hbs. They had either the same or similar routing specs that would fit the soapbar. I never measured and compaired so I don't know how close they were, but it did work. Right as I was going to buy a used deluxe, the Epi 56 gold top came out so I went that route. See what I did there?

That blue is amazing. I've been a LP guy a long time and 20 years ago I wanted a blue one. There weren't any blues in production or on the used market for the 2 years I looked. I couldn't afford a real Gibson anyways. Up popped a 90s Korean Epi on Ebay. I think they called it ocean blue burst back then? I still have it. Transplanted Gibson pickups, cts pots, orange drop caps and boom!
A few years later Gibson did a Manhattan midnight IIRC. That was around the time they started the guitar of the week.
