Yes, New Accordion Day! (1-April-2023) What we have here is a Hohner Hohnica 1305 with 72 bass buttons and 34 piano keys.

Update: After my new accordion was damaged in shipping I contacted the seller for a refund; he asked if I'd consider a replacement and I agreed.

Seller is a Hohner dealer and contacted Hohner North America who contacted me, on 4-April; I forwarded my photos of the damage, and they asked a few questions and had me try a few things which didn't work,

The Hohner rep confirmed my address and phone, and had a new replacement shipped to me on 5-April, which arrived today (13-April) and is in working order:

All I can say is Hohner is an honorable company who stands by their products and customers. I simply explained the situation, and they promptly sent a new replacement. No hassle, no issues. Great customer service. Same goes for the Reverb seller.

Unfortunately, it didn't survive shipping unscathed as can be seen in the picture, so its' future is uncertain. :(

Issue: it's known as "sunken buttons", and with 72 buttons, may not be cheap to fix. Waiting to see what the seller says.

This is a common enough problem, too many buttons pushed in at once; the button mechanism wasn't blocked which is standard if you're shipping one to prevent this from occurring, but it's supposed to be a brand new accordion so I find it "odd" that Hohner would not have blocked the button mechanism.

I wonder if you could use hall effect sensors on this for swells?

Well that sucks, sorry that happened. I don't really know much about accordions, so at first I thought yep, if anyone is posting this it's rsm. But then I didn't see any damage and thought it was a prank. What are the beveled and cross hatched buttons for? Is it for locating your position? Hopefully it works out for you.

It’s a shame Weird Al Yankovic didn’t parody any metal songs. If he did, it’s a shame I’m not aware of it

The beveled button is C, for location. Button rows go from Counter Bass (Major 3rd), Fundamental bass (root/tonic)notes to Major, Minor, Seventh and Diminished chords.

You can get 12, 48, 72, 96 or 120 bass buttons. 72 is in the middle so not too many or too few, IMO. the more buttons the more complex the mechanism, also requested a repair estimate from a nearby (5 hours away) repair shop. If it's not too bad, and seller does a partial refund to cover part of the costs...we'll see.

Seems finding accordion repair is harder than finding Hammond repair, but at least taking an accordion to the repair shop is easier than taking a Hammond, could use a house call:

My mother played the accordion. I wanted her to teach me, but she was probably afraid I'd break it.

How about Enter Sandman...or Holy Wars?

Holy Wars would take awhile... my first accordion FWIW
It was a joke..

I'd rather listen to "Baby Metal" than hear anything played on an accordion.
