Seriously... do these guys have ANY accountability? They charge absurd amounts for shipping and then it seems like they deliver whenever is convenient for them. I have gotten so many late and delayed packages from them it’s a joke. I never ship UPS, only FedEx. But unfortunately, when I buy gear, a lot of times it’s sent UPS.

I bought a Bogner 2x12 cab from Reverb last week. Shipped out from Oregon to California last Friday. Didn’t move in tracking for a while then finally showed today for delivery date. Then showed “out for delivery” this morning. Well, it never showed up. Now it’s “rescheduled” for tomorrow. Wtf. 5 days from Oregon to California? I hope UPS goes bankrupt. Then all my packages will have to come from FedEx.

UPS has always been consistent with me.
A while back Fed-Ex (home delivery) managed to break the headstock off a Les Paul Custom I ordered so I'm always weary.

That sucks. Either one can cause havoc at any time. Right now is not the time to have gear shipped with the Holidays. The odds of damage or lost packages increases tenfold. The employees are so loaded up and working long hours that a lot of care goes out the window.

Yeah they fucked me so many times I only use Fed X now

I have luck w/fedex none with UPS but have seen or heard horror stories for both .

When someone figure out an uber style business model for shipping then maybe things will change for now there no competition and they generally don't care .

Also never ship Dec1st till first week in Jan if you can avoid it .

i saw a truck still out at 10:30 last night with an extra guy in the passenger seat helping. never saw them out that late and its not even december yet

It's the time of year. Even with Amazon Prime's two day shipping, when you go to check out the estimated arrival changes to 3-4 days. It's like, why do you quote free 2 day shipping when you can't deliver.

A company is only as good as the people working for it. That's why you see tales of love and tales of hate for both FedEx and UPS. Douchebags come in all sorts of different uniforms.

Personally I love and have had nothing but positive experiences with FedEx. UPS, while I've not had any damage issues, are always slow to deliver. Doesn't matter if I'm shipping or receiving, they're always a day behind FedEx.

From my experience, FedEx is always faster and a little cheaper - especially if you set up a fee account. The only damaged packages I've received were from UPS. Most of the time I'd say damage is the fault of the person who packed the box though. If it's not packed with the assumption that it'll be tossed around and dropped from 10 feet, then it's not packed well enough IMO.

I've had issues with every carrier. If you don't like it, buy local. Otherwise, suck it up, unless you want to start a shipping business that does it better.

I've had issues with UPS, USPS and Fedex. UPS is by far the worst, and USPS had just gone straight to hell since they raised rates 35% almost two years ago. I had the most damage claims in the last 18 months with them of anyone, they used to be the least.

I use Fedex Ground for shipping, and pay them around $30k per year. I think I've had one damage claim in the last two years, and one extremely late delivery to the Blue Man Group last year (as in 26 days late). Since I do most of my shipping with them, that wasn't too bad.

USPS gets about $20k per year out of me (higher cost for less shipments since most are outside the USA) for shipping, and I've had 6 damage claims in the last 18 months, three of which they refused to honor the insurance for their handling.

So I stick with Fedex when I can since at least you can talk to them about getting it resolved. USPS and UPS may as well hang out a sign that says "We don't care, go away!" if you have a claim.

It's all in how the region/hub is managed. I'm in Minnesota/Northern IA and I've never had any issues with delivery here. I have a buddy who works in management for UPS, he works with the CEO's and this isn't news but he said they are some of the most disgusting people he's every met. UPS/FedEx/USPS doesn't care about your package to them it's all about time which is the fucked up part relating to the OP comment. If their product is "time" they could at least stick to forecasts and delivery notifications.

I guess you beat me to the punch on that Helios cab

I had a 212 Cab scheduled for today from UPS. The Tracking updated to say delayed due to operating conditions.. Whatever that means.

Really tho, times are changing. Online buys are taking over. Package delivery guys work their asses off every day. If you had to deliver 100-150 packages a day, would you give a fuck about damaging something? I don't know how these guys have a life.

I missed a delivery from FedEx one time, but called to pick it up at the warehouse. The place looked and operated like a prison, including the workers whom looked like they were on parole.. These are the people who do the job for probably no money. They don't give a fuck because it's a shit job they were lucky to get.

These places probably need to re modernize and expand to be more efficient. But what do I know..

THISTHISTHIS.

Every shipper sucks around the holidays, they hire temp staff who just don't care how they treat packages. My only issues shipping when I ebayed a lot happened during the holidays. In Nov 2013 I sold a 4010 that got impaled somewhere in Cali. UPS.
Of course they denied the claim. Not sure how ANY type of packaging would protect against that.
Fuckers.

I’d avoid shipping anything with a headstock or a tube right now. Pedal may be safe. I’ve spent some time inside the UPS hub in Louisville and it’s insane on any regular day. I can’t imagine the chaos during the holidays that must occur there.

Just went through my second day of "out for delivery". Did finally show at about 7pm. Happy though. No damage and amp seems to be 100%. What I hated was you cannot get a human being calling them or through chat. Even the chat is a damn virtual one :aww:

AMEN! I’m waiting for my new amp. I paid extra for 2 day shipping because I knew someone would be home. I pre-paid the taxes and brokerage as soon as they let me know. Was all clear but then it hits our clearing agency and poof. I have never been a fan of UPS at all. Either way, first world problem and It will get here when it gets here. Seller was fantastic with communication and made sure that it would get here by today. It all comes down to someone behind the desk not doing their job. It really is as simple as that. The current situation in Montreal at the border intake is the same. They are so far behind and are leaving items for weeks before they move them.
