Visiting Japan for Christmas - Which guitar stores to see?

I’m currently in Osaka. Spent some time in Tokyo and Kyoto. I have to say that from my perspective, the music stores heres have been kind of dissapointing. In Tokyo I went to Ochanomizu and most of the stores had huge Fender and Gibson inventories, but nothing that would really stand out for me. There were 2 stores there that had some cool guitars (one had some nice PRS’s and theother had some nice Strandberg, Tyler and Mayones guitars).

In Kyoto I went to a BigBoss store and it was nice, but again, not something that would get me to say Wow!. In Osaka I visited the Esp Store near the Umeda Station and it was similar to the BigBoss store. Prices are really higher here than in the US (except for ESP and Edwards).

But all in all it was entertaining.

In Nara now and I had kinda the same impression about the music stores, but overall they are much higher quality and inventory than the US shops but the prices are a bit insane. Still a treat to go there and window-shop.
Saw a wall of fender custom shops fall down at the Ishibashi in Umeda and it was quite an experience!
Your best bet would be to keep on eye out on digimart.net. MASSIVE inventory and I'm sure you can work with the shops to ship the US.
Have fun in Japan and Akemashite Omedeto!
