I doing some covers with a couple of friends. Mainly covering Metallica.

Which wah for the S&M style should I get?? :)

The Dunlop JP or CFH ones might be closest. I have the Cantrell wah that I have liked the most of the 3 so far. They are also the only wahs I have owned so take it with a small grain of salt

I bought the Morley Lynch Dragon wah V1 from MF many moons ago [autographed by GL himself] and never have felt the need for another.
Ive had them all over the years. I can say Musician's Friend actually got this one right.

I love Kirk’s EMB wah era. My favorite by a mile. I got the reissue they did and glad I did. Such a unique sound.

Any wah considering all you are going to do is rock it back and forth nonsensically like Kirk does. Might as well just get the cheapest. Dunlop mini cry-baby is great, not expensive, and gives you 3 voicings.

Dunlop JP-95 Petrucci wah. It is the Dunlop rack wah in pedal format.

The JP95 is the first and only wah I've ever owned. The pictures don't really do it justice. Looks even more gorgeous in-person - and it sounds fantastic.

I had no idea the JP95 had been around for so long. I picked mine up in December of 2020 and have no regrets.

It's almost like a museum piece. Very beautiful and very heavy LOL.

It'll probably out-live me.

The Petrucci wah is the closest you’ll get to an EMB without dishing out over $1K for the EMB, if you can even find one (including the reissue that came out a while ago and fizzled). It’s got a wide sweep and really, is the be-all-end-all wah due to being able to customize the tone of it however you want.

I also love the Cantrell wah, but wouldn’t suggest it for Metallica stuff as the sweep isn’t as wide.

Petrucci VS- Cantrell

Can you link to a similar? Which wah is that
EMB is a defunct maker of rack wahs.

Arguably nothing else sounds like them. They did a pedal format version what, a decade ago? AFAIK nothing since. It's strange, since the originals command high 4 figure prices. Someone's sitting on a gold mine.

Hey all! I haven't been on here in forever, I kinda forgot about it tbh. I see talk of hammetts original wah rack in which you can also add vai and slash to the same bill. Just to let people know that i brought the unit back with some updates quite a few years ago now. I can't say i openly talk about or that i am well known, but i've been working on quite a lot of stuff over the years like bringing back mesa switch racks, making dual mesa EQs too. I have plenty of projects and things on the go at the moment when i'm not working full time, practically doing the same thing just not in the music/audio scene. I have plenty of people to vouch for me over the years on FB, insta etc. I am quite surprised to still find EMB talk after all this time which is cool.
