Washburn USA---Gone

That sucks. I love their version of the ML they made for Dime back in the 90's, and I want one of those Washburn dimeslime's... that was the coolest guitar Dime played.

What happens to Parker?

I work across the way from US Music. They keep a pretty closed door policy (I requested a tour of the shop last year as, then, a Parker owner, and they declined). This is sad.

The oldest USA guitar company is no more. The Washburn US Chicago custom shop has closed yesterday for good. This is where the N4's were made. Looks like all Washburns now will be made in the far east. It's unsure what will happen to the N4 model, as that was the only model that mattered in my opinion. I've played just about every guitar and my early Davies N4 continues to be my favorite. Many here on RT won't care. It's a sad day due to the history alone, really sad for the players who love the N4. This must be why Nuno has been buying all the fan's early N4's during the meet and greets.

Do you have a source for all of this info? I can't find anything. Trying to get more details.

The N4 is sooooo bad-ass, shame...I guess prices will rocket now.

Or not

as I said before neither Washburn or Parker are out of business, the US shop they were using was closed and they are looking for another facility.
There are no Parkers being made currently. The shop's doors closed. Sounds like they are currently out of business to me. This is likely lip service as the closing was seen coming for a while. If another builder wanted to take them over they likely would have by now.

Many are also speculating/hoping that the N4 can be picked up by another builder. Unlikely.

The community that frequented the Funky Munky Washburn forum have moved to the N4 Facebook page after Funky Munky sold and no longer dealt in Washburns. The ex-owner of Funky Munky as well as the owner of Boogie Street Guitars frequent the page and have been giving everyone up to date info. Both are saying it looks very bleak and unlikely that another builder will take over the N4 in the U.S., same with the Parker line. Everyone is doubtful but also wishful.

Not a big fan of Washburn guitars, but I have a few of their basses. A Force 4 and a Force 5.
Not too bad for the money.

Are these the same guy's making the Strandberg guitars in the USA? If so what is happening with them.

Really? I remember he sold off quite a few guitars in the past.......

Does this mean Fortin is out of his Randall contract ???

Strandberg announced a couple weeks ago that the Boden (ie US semi-custom line) is being moved to Ola's shop in Sweden IIRC

Given he just came back from meetings at the factories in China I doubt it.

The Parker and Washburn import lines are also still in production according to the link I posted above and a couple of other things I've seen. The only thing that closed is the US factory.

I can't say exactly, but it's from a friend of mine that owns a pretty high end guitar store near where I live...he went to NAMM, he was a Parker dealer
