LOL I'm still trying to sound like guys from before I was born.

It's probably down to the associations you make with music you hear when you are most impressionable. Like teenage years. Those tones are indelibly written into your conscience and experiencing them first hand is a nostalgic experience.

My personal vote goes to the Cameron Atomica. I have used a few other amps that get me close enough for me (Mojave Peacemaker, Mod 5, Cameron modded Marshalls, Friedman)-- but since the Cameron Atomica, I find the yearning to getting the satisfaction of that sound-- fulfilled.

God, this board is FULL of 50 year old EVH wannabees stuck in the 80's. Brown sound this, plexi that... Grow up people! Cut your mullets!
Yeah man...I just love playing my drop Z tuned 8 string Bass because we don't need no guitar in my nu metal band..  Seriously, if you wanna cut live you gotta have some mids. And some of the nicest mids out there come out of a plexi. Just a fact. And I like new rock also..I saw Five Finger Death Punch last summer...their recorded tone is shit to me..can't stand it. But live? Full of mids..nice tone. I know a guy who worked the stage and he said they had some VHT heads....
