What are the best bands that never made it?

Into The Presence

Guy does demo vids for Rivera amps. Awesome album, I listen to it a lot, but no hype whatsoever around them.

Couple of bands for me:
Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America) put out some killer music, esp the self titled debut but just never got "there".
Karma to Burn
Stereomud (esp Perfect Self)

Listen baby!

Play a guitar solo on top of them, do it! (There is a lot place left)

;)

Kisses from Kai (which can also be a female name, guess  )

Child's Play............by far. The first band that came to mind when reading this title.

These guys were local rock heroes when I was a kid. There album Rat Race is killer and I recommend checking it out. It still holds true to this day. They even brought it at recent shows.
Is it just me or does that guy have serious Steve Whiteman of Kix thing going on? I LOVED Kix!!!!! I think that they should have been bigger... I remember seeing them at HammerJacks WAY back in the day and they flat out blew me away and this was before they went national..
I do think there are similarities with Whiteman, after all, they both came from the Baltimore rock scene of the early 80's. They have that "Baltimore" color to there voices. I think you can consider Kix though as actually making it. I mean, when I pulled up into the driveway tonight Kix was on XM's Hair Nation for at least the 3rd time today. Kix was an awesome straightforward no bullshit rock band. Very classic/timeless sounding.

Right on, I had a bunch of friends in the Balitmore/Dc Area and it was always a blast when I came down. Come to think of it, Im pretty sure that I caught Childs play on several occasions and dug them. Truth is that I dont remember ever seeing a bad show from anyone at HJ's when we went there, that club kicked ass!!

As for your comments on Kix, couldnt agree more; Straightforward, no BS, Kickass attitude with the highest energy shows that you could imagine... Aside from whiteman, they were a sum of their parts and just brought it...
I loved Child's Play...saw them at Hammerjacks as well as a few clubs in southern PA (Swizzles in York, the Metron in Harrisburg). They wrote catchy tunes and could really bring it live. I hadn't heard about their singer...what happened?

That said, Kix is the first band that came to mind, even though it could easily be argued that they did in fact "make it". I just always thought that the should have been bigger...and probably would have if they didn't adopt the glam-metal look of the mid-late 80's and hadn't toured with bands like Ratt. They were much more of a straight up hard rock band with one of the best, most energetic live shows that I've ever seen. All these years later they still bring it...just saw them in Erie two weeks ago and they killed it.
