The Fish is a bit of an enigma to me  . The majority of the posts I've read from people who either have one or played one paint the picture that it's an "ok" preamp. I've never read it sucked, but very few of these posters seemed as enamored with the Fish as one would expect considering the level of hype surrounding it. I know this happens to an extent with any hyped product, but it just seems very out of balance when I stop and think about what I've actually read. It will be interesting to see what the consensus will be once it gets into a few more hands .

Never underestimate the power of user-error

Many internet "experts" don't know anything about optimizing gear and achieving the best tone possible.

Half of them can't play either, so take that for what it's worth.

I'll tell you my OPINION of it when it shows up.

I think the M4 will smoke it.

well, the M4 smokes all of the preamps I still have, however, it can't do everything.

The Sound Clinic S3 sounds very different
The VHT GP-3 sounds very different
Even the IE-4 sounds different enough.

They're all great in their own ways.

True

I hope it works out for you, kind of like meeting the prom queen 10 years later and getting to bed her at last. Good luck

A hot 18 year old has a good chance of looking hot at 28, assuming she didn't pack on the weight or get serious into substance abuse.

I couldn't agree with you more on the user-error thing. I hope it works for you and I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about it.

tHE Fish is the best preamp I've ever experienced...
However, I like the Bogner Xtcy 100B more than the Fish, plus it's more of a rare find in that 200 Fish were produced and around 150 100B's were produced.
Plus, you have more options at your feet with the 100B.

The Dolphins? Yes, they will suck again this year.

i did not connect with the fish at all.

could have bought one, but opted for a triaxis instead, and if i could do it all over again, i would have bought the ie4

if the fish sucks I'll laugh. If it's cool, i'll say "glad you like it"

it won't suck... may not be your cup of tea, but it can't suck.

Jerry Cantrell gets a killer tone out of them... Apperently they work well with the old SS Mosvalve Power amps... both Jerry cantrell and Chris Poland paired them with the mosvalve's... that's actually Chris' current setup with his band Ohm.

Im new to posting. I perfer to just read the board topics. I wanted to respond to this subject to ease the minds of peeps who purchased the new fish preamp. The preamp you ordered will perform at the same level as any preamp that bears the name bogner Fish. Do you wonder how I could make such a bold statement? Well.. I will tell you why. The 2008 run is not the fish v2 it is the fish v3. Have you ever read or heard anyone comparing the sound or trying to rate fish v1 vs. v2? I havent and I would venture to say most people didnt even know.. despite the fact that there was a design change. So every one relax and take comfort in the fact that Reinhold is calling this a limited run of the original fish which means it will not be the ugly step sister becuase it isnt Identical... it will just be 75 more fishes that just happen to be v3.
