Well....I've made some bad decisions this past year that has hit my bank acounts pretty hard, I have nothing to sell so...I'm just gonna ask that, Please send what you can to my paypal account at kurtsstuff@hotmail.com I'm asking this because I want to buy some other shit thats for sale in the classifieds and I really don't want to spend my own money anymore and so..By doing this just consider it a "prepay" to me for the same shit I wanna buy that I'll be selling later ....Cool?? :D

Gear Futures.....that's a novel idea.

It's probably a front for what they really want to say: "I don't think this amp sounds great anymore but I dot want to tell you that's why I'm selling it." :)

As others said, sellers shouldn't give a reason anyway. The buyer doesn't really care why it's being sold, as long as it isn't broken.

But 1000-2000 dollars is a lot of money. I'm not surprised if that would make an impact on somebody's finances.

because its America in most cases. Most are a paycheck or two away from being homeless and on the streets. They have no self discipline with credit. Credit is killing America because most people think in the now, I have to have the 70in HDTV, charge it I have to have that Bogner, charge it. I have to keep up with the Jone's so I buy new cars every 3rd year etc. Makes no sense to me.

I also find it funny and disturbing at the same time. Look at how many people get all excited with tax refunds....the government is laughing at them because you just gave them an interest free loan ;)

I honestly don't care the reasoning for selling items but will generally ask because there are asshats who like to sell defective shit and pass it on to other people.

I sell shit because..I like trying out alot of different things. Even though I might think that (name any amp) is the greatest thing since sliced bread....it doesn't mean I'm going to keep it. For what I do musically, I don't need or want a 3 or $4000.00 amp being schlepped around when I can get all I need out of a marshall head and a small rack of crap but...You know I'll be buying and trying those 3/4/$5000.00 amp heads cuz....It's what we do.

This country would economically collapse without folks carrying absurd amounts of debt. So really, you should be thanking them :)

Having said that, stating in an ad that you're desperate for cash is never a good idea. While you may think it's attracting a sympathetic buyer, all it's really doing is inviting low-ballers. There are exceptions to this, but they're rare.

The short answer for me is because I can....

The longer version....

1. I like to experiment

2. Varierty is the spice of life

3. It's a fun, harmless diversion

4. It's considerably cheaper than other hobbies

5. I may actually find something worth keeping

6. I'm easily distracted by shiny things

7. I keep the same job, house, car and wife; I feel no need to do the same with "stuff"

8. I'm happily married; new women when I'm feeling bored are no longer an option

9. New gear days are like getting a BIrthday/Christmas present any time you choose

10. The best thing about being an "adult", is doing the shit you couldn't do as a kid :D

and there you have it

I think you hit it on the head in that list.

my for sale threads are usually because i have something else on order and i want to sell something to help pay for it, i sell my stuff most of the time to buy most stuff.

i like to give honest answers on why im selling, i tend to think alot of the people selling arent always honest and make up stories because they dont like what they are selling but dont wanna say it sucks, or some people seem to say how something is the greatest and 2 days later sell it and then say they have something that came up and their priorities have changed, but in reality they are too emabarrassed to admit they arent inlove with their purchase anymore and dont wanna look stupid after raving about it.

and then theres some people who was at a point where they could afford their gear, but maybe something happened where its easier to replace a amp 6 months down the road than it is to use their savings, i know people who dont wanna spend their savings if they dont have to, guitars and amps can be replaced and its easier to sell something.

i had a situation once where it was xmas and i wanted extra cash to buy my family some gifts and pay a few bills and i had a bank cd that was paying me decent intrest on my money but i didnt wanna break it, so i sold a few guitars and a amp instead, and about a year later i replaced my gear and it was no big deal.

theres lots of different situations, i guess if we see a guy and his cat needs a surgery and sells a expensive amp only to buy another expensive amp a week later, i guess that would be a situation where somebody was lying.

What is it with people and their poor judgment in financial planning.

The classifieds are flooded with ads saying they need to let go of gear because of "other financial priorities that have come up".

If a one time 1000 or 2000 dollar sale is such a dramatic change in your family's financial stability they might want to consider the consequences a bit more before buying the brand new gear I'd say.
And if that 2000 dollars is part of a larger debt problem it's even more absurd that they've bought the damn thing in the first place when they clearly can't afford it.

There are even ads that represent only a couple of hundred dollars in value but the seller claims it would really turn his money problems around.

People need to either stop lying or start getting there priorities straight before buying stuff...

If it bothers you so much I suggest logging off the PC and getting some fresh air. Maybe a walk on the beach or something.

Cat died, don't need to pay for physical therapy. HAPPY NEW BOGNER DAY FOR ME!!!

Haha yep!! That there sums it up perfectly! ;)

I don't however get the need to post why you are selling the gear at least when it pertains to financial reasons anyway. As if the begging for money will make someone feel sorry for you and buy what you're selling any faster! If someone wants your stuff, they will buy it regardless if your mom desperately needs a new set of oven mits or your kid had his/her teeth knocked out with a Nintendo Wii controller and you need money for the dental bill! What people post is their business but yeah I agree cut the silliness of why you are selling and just sell!

It seems there's a fine line between stupid and.......clever.

As long as the sales/classified police are on the job, someday we'll be safe from stupidly-clever folks selling their amps to atone for their skewed financial priorities......or: The best thing about being an "adult", is doing the shit you couldn't do as a kid - like misuse of your money without anyone busting your balls about it...

Yep, I agree with the above post, when you're an adult you have the freedom to spend your money however foolhardy you seem fit w/o anyone up your stinkhole to bust your balls. Some people do need it but if doesn't affect your life then I say no harm, no foul...

anti-GAS priorities:
Mow lawn
take out garbage
give Fluffy a pedicure
setup a sweet retirement plan

leftover cash can go towards 1 set of strings & 1 pack of picks per year
make do with crappy Hondo>Line6 chain (tone is in fingers)
