He seems a day late and a dollar short with much of it though. I mean, if this was a few yrs back when mark was still ripping people off then ok, but he waits till yrs later when the company is in entirely different hands and tries blackballing them into a free atomica over a supposed mod he had mark do ten yrs ago. I get some of what he bitches about though and I always wondered yrs ago why someone who got burned wouldn't just post layouts of the mods they had but maybe they were worried about resale value. I have had good and bad experiences with getting amps modded. One I would recommend would be Dave bray. It will be done right the first time and he will tell you how much and how long ahead of time and no sloppy work inside the amp to be shocked about when you open it up.

If he wants to spend the time involved modifying a pcb Marshall correctly, let alone the parts, tubes etc, getting it in and out of the box, packed correctly and back to the post office as well for $200 that's up to him. (parts, tubes, shipping will cost $200) There is always someone looking for a deal rather than just paying for it done correctly or the best brand etc.

Its also up to him to step on people along the way, again getting himself in deep. Which he is already in the depths of misery as i read it.

In my opinion hes too stupid to know how stupid he is.

While his posts come off as rants, I agree with a LOT that he says. If you think some amp modders out there don't want to keep you in the dark then you're fooling yourself.

I've seen what it takes to do various mod's, and you're right, in some cases, it ain't all that much....however....I have ZERO interest in doing it myself, or trying to figure out all the pitfalls that these dudes are already aware of......in some cases due to THOUSANDS of hours of experience. I'll happily pay the cost to avoid the VERY steep (for me) learning curve

No brainer, in my case.

I agree plus I am so mechanically incompetant I couldnt even modify a paper bag!!!

you think PR is his only problem? yeah and ill build you a John Suhr amp for half the price too. oh and i have clones of his Riot pedal coming out...His PR is only a indication of the kind of person you're dealing with here. some "respected" people are defending him? i beg to differ on that one as well.

its really simple....leave other people's names and the slander out and let your work speak for itself... stupid ass.

I saw that thread...can't remember who may have defended him, but what I DO remember is that Steve (who actually has a legit business) posted his own schematic freely, and challenged the other guy to do the same...the response?... crickets....followed by another ramblimg rant....

The info is out there for anyone who cares to research it...always has been...the question is whether you care to bother going the DIY route vs. paying someone who's already put in the hours.

Exactly the point. it is out there and if you want to put in the work you can learn to do it as well and props to those that do.

i have worked on many David Bray amps but i wouldn't sell his spec or even offer to do it for someone at a cheaper price or even the same price.

The point is that the respected guys don't need to use someone else's name and or even slander someone else in the process of trying to sell their business.

The intent to harm others in the process of your gain has no room for any kind of respect and i pity the guy for hell he creates in his own mind.

Never said PR was his "only" problem...simply stated that he was bad at it. Also agreed with you about getting in deep which I felt covered the other issues that you brought up...not sure why you feel slighted by my post???

Did you read the HCAF thread? You can't really "beg to differ" that guys who are well respected on this forum are sticking up for him there, at least to some degree. I'm not gonna name names but its all there to see.

He listed his number on a HCAF thread and someone from this forum called him, they actually knew who he was from the Metro forum. If that forum member sees this thrread and feels like commenting then you'll get their side.

The guy comes off wrong from his threads and I don't know him so I can't comment either way and what type of person or bussiness owner he is. All I said was I agreed with some of what he rants about. And at least he picked his phone up which is something some amp modders seem to refuse to do.

If his intentention was ever anything other than to profit, he'd just post all the "secrets" he's "discovered" and be done with it....seems pretty clear that's not going to happen.
