What is up with this? Jose Mods!!!

That guy comes off as such a moron there's no way I'd ever let him touch an amp that belonged to me. I don't care how good it sounded, I'd have a hard time supporting him in any way. There are plenty of other guys around that will do those mods who don't spam every thread and act like fools.

Guys, does his amp even sound THAT good??? Again I ask this question because you'd think if he were going to go on a rant he'd get proper sound clips of his mod rather than propping up a shitty cam on a desk across from his cab. To me that amp doesn't sound that shit hot.

Jerry's quote was the best! "The mic on you Iphone makes you amp sound dumb".

Im a simple man..

Actually Mark C chimed in on Metro forum and said he never got an amp from billyblades (I assume he shared his real name with mark) Mark was pretty honest with me about whos amps he had and such. Im still unclear about the assaults on all the other guys. Is he claiming they all ripped him off or what???? I doubt it. I know most of them.

My thoughts on this:

1.) Builders/modders are free to charge whatever they want for their amps/mods and the market can decide if they want to pay for them.
2.) There is nothing really new under the sun in amp design IMO, much of the info is out there (I've shared my journey) and if you want to do it yourself, I think that is great.
3.) I don't like people bagging on other amp builder's, unless they are calling out shoddy business practices that led to delays or loss that they have PERSONAL experience with. I think that is valid because it helps others not get screwed.
4.) BillyBlades is just a guy who got info from others online and messed with some amps and wants to start a business. He's using the drama around Mark Cameron as a way to get some publicity for whatever he is doing. Now he is talking about an amp he is going to bring to market called the "SwitchBlade". When he finds out what it REALLY takes to design and bring an amp to market, and how much it costs to do it right, repeatably and profitably, we'll see how far that goes and how much he wants for one.
5.) Everybody gets stuff from everybody in this business. For this guy to cry about how everyone is ripping off poor (and dead, btw!) Jose Arredondo and then basically saying, I'm gonna start a for profit business based on the work of the guys he is accusing of ripping off Jose is about as stupid as it gets. If he was really so altruistic about people getting ripped off, etc. he'd just post the semi-accurate schematics he's compiled and let everyone have at it.
6.) The Aldrich Mod is Cameron's, nothing to do with Jose.
7.) If you want the Cameron sound, you can buy it from Brad and as far as I can tell, not get ripped off now. If you don't like the price, that is too bad, but the truth is, a small manufacturer does not have the economies of scale that the big guys do. Everything costs a guy like Brad (or me) more because there are limited runs, not hundreds of amps. You pay that price to get the tone, or you don't. All the math wizards coming up with the profit per amp and thinking that Brad is running away with these huge profits right now has no idea what he is talking about. If you don't want to pay the price that allows Brad to run a small business, buy something from the big guys who make 'em outside the country with cheap labor and parts. Or, if you think you can get the tone from a JVM or a straight Marshall with a boost, go buy that. Your other option is to learn about amps and figure out how to mod them yourself, but the constant crying about "it's a metro kit with 20 bucks worth of parts changes for $3K" is tiring. If that is what you think, go do it yourself...

but what I DO remember is that Steve (who actually has a legit business) posted his own schematic freely,
I did post my schems, but, while I'm actually in the process of starting a legit business, I certainly don't have one yet as I haven't sold a damn thing...

Everything this guy has is available on metro and sloclone. I think he is lying about most of it. He contradicts himself alot.

Well said Steve. I am looking forward to your amp release!!!

Well, I just saw this, and since I've already posted on HC a few days ago, I figured that Id reply :D

I know Billy and I've spoken to him on the phone many times.
My personal opinion is that he is a good dude but I know that when he gets animated and posts, his threads can be off putting to some.
I'm not the best person at putting my thoughts into words and Id gather that Billy is the same, so you can take it for what it's worth
and that's just my opinion.

As far as him giving off the appearance that he is spamming, I am partly to blame for that because I told Billy that he should take what
he has learned and get it out there and possibly put his spin on it. I told him that there is room for everyone and if he thought that he could do a good job putting out an amp that he should do it.

I also agree with a lot of what Steve Said in his post and I think that it's a great time for guitar players. We have many options that we didn't have back in the day and I wish everyone success.

That's just my 0.02

All the best.

I have stayed out of these discussions on purpose. The old adage of a pig liking to roll around in the mud is spot on...but this dude Blades posts some shit that just ain't true, for any of you to support that is pretty surprising to me. I get thats he's pissed off at Mark Cameron for some deal he did with him several years ago. IMO He should get face to face and solve it or write it off...Rob, Dave and I have lost $$$ to Mark Cameron as well, probably more than anyone other than Chris Schmidt.

Anyway I am all for free speech and I allow all of this to be on the forum when I could easily censor it but I don't (although I do get accused of censoring all this stuff which is BS as well) God knows I have a thick skin, but this is not about me.

When he goes off on guys I know and posts total BS it is silly. Hey I get that he doesn't like Mark Cameron and wants to choke him out because he got ripped off, I understand all that and have empathy for it but to jump Dave Friedman, thats nuts.

Dave Firedman is a good honest working dude with no pretense to him at all, not to mention he has the worlds best players beating his door down daily. To say this amateur solder jockie is in the same lexicon as Dave is laughable. Not saying he might not develop some skills someday but you don't play in the Pro Bowl your first day on the Freshman Football team.

Let me know when Eddie Van Halen gives you his #1 to work on?

When you need to tear down someone to try to push yourself up you come off looking at best foolish and at worst jealous and vindictive.

Thats all I am going to say and yes I agree with Steves post.

Just to be clear I'm just saying that I like Billy and I think that he is a good dude because he has treated me very well and I have to go by how he has treated me. I Don't always agree with how things are handled but we all have our ways of venting. With that said, I don't have any personal Vendetta against Cameron amps , Dave F. or Mark A. I just chimed in because I knew how frustrated Billy was and I hoped that I could show another side of him. That's all.
I guess I'll shut up now and I'll say it again, I wish everyone success, I really do.

Wow! What a pity I don't live in the lower 48, I'd be all over this Wicked Wisdom offer!

...wait a minute... NOT.

No pun intended to anyone particularly, this thread's been an awesomely entertaining one, and a learning experience as well for a guy living far far away in the middle of nowhere having absolutely no clue whatsoever (before this thread and the one in HC) of "the dealio with Cameron".

His eBay ad reads like a Nigerian scammer email on Craigslist. Embarassing...
