What is your "backup" up you bring to shows

I had the same question and concern and think for the time being I'm gonna accquire a 44 Magnum and use that with my Wampler Plextortion.

I never bring a backup amp to shows. If something goes wrong (never has in 25 years), I'd just borrow one from one of the other bands.

I use an old POD XT Live as a midi controller and backup if the main rig goes down.

My main unit is a Pittbull 45, not too big, so there's room for the Peavey Ultra backup.

BFG modded JCA20 to back up my Budda SD80. It'll do just fine if ever needed and will sound pretty damn good doing it.

On topic, I see alot of people using the EHX Magnum pedals. These can't be run off of a PP2 correct? They have there own wall wart I thought. This and the fact that I would need a 20 foot speaker cable to the cab prevented me from going this route. I know you could plug into the aux outlet on the PP2, but I still thought this would be kinda bulky and awkward for a pedalboard. Add in the cost of a nice OD pedal and it just seemed to make more sense going the small backup head route.

How are you guys using the EHX pedals in your setup?

100 watt Einstein is my main rig. Boogie MK III 1x12 in a road case w/a Shur Riot is the back up for myself or the other guitarist in the band. One time the bass player used just the boogie head into his cabs when his took a shit. I'm also really considering using the Mag .44 with my Soldano G.T.O. as smallest possible plug and play replacement.

I bring 2 5150 III 100 watters and 2 EVH 2x12 cabs and run them in stereo at most gigs. Bigger shows I bring the matching 4x12's. If one of the amps were to crap out I'd just use the other one. If I'm lazy and just want to bring 1 head and 1 cab I bring the 50 watt along as well just in case. I also have Ampkit+ on my iPhone and the connections to hook directly to the PA in an emergency.

I don't think my back could take bringing another rig, the pod fits about anywhere and locally I usually carry it in the pouch of a Suhr gigbag with my guitar. I use to run stereo rigs, not backup, and not trying to carry around that much crap ever again.

I don't own one of the Magnum pedals (yet) but according to EHX, they recommend that you only use the 24VDC power supply that comes with the unit. As far as a speaker cable run, I was considering mounting the pedal to the rear of my amp or cabinet (had previously done so with an NS-2 that was always on) in order to keep the speaker cable run short. I could then take the cable from the input of amp (which has my Plexitone out front) and insert into the EHX if need be.....quick and easy and not requiring any changes at my board. The only thing I would lose in my particular set-up is my delay and EQ which are in the amp's loop.
