What was you first real amp? Did you like it?

JCM800 2204, I think it was an 87'. I got it in 98'. Had an ATA I think 2/12 cab with it, and it was awesome. the amp was awesome. Wish I never got rid of it.

My first real amp was a Rivera Jake combo. EL 34s, 55 watts, awesome clean and OD channels...and I had nowhere to crank it up. I mean, I really dug that amp, but I had to start my search for something more practical, so I sold it. DOH! Wish I kept it, made a series of bad trades after that!

In 1970 when I was six my Dad gave me a Stadium amp ~ 1-12AX7, 1-EL84 and a rectifier with a 8 inch speaker. Still have it and grinds great when turned up. I like it better than a lot of amps I have owned ..... it kicks A$$.

My first "real" amp was a Rivera M60-410 combo loaded with JBLs. Been a big fan of Riveras since. I eventually traded it in for a Knucklehead Reverb 100 (which I still have). I miss it from time to time.

Mesa 3ch Dual Rectifier. I absolutely hated it; for months I tried dialing it in, then used an EQ in the loop, then another, etc. Finally I sold it, but it wasn't until months later that I found out it was the Basson 4x12 I had that made it sound so terrible.

First real amp was a peavey bravo. For a year and a half I thought it was a great sounding SS amp. Then I found out it was actually a tube amp and it all made sense. it was sold to me as a SS amp for 100 bucks. Don't have the same one but got my current one for the same deal: 100 bucks, guy thought it was SS. Loved it then and now.

First real amp I bought with my own money was a peavey vtm. Loved it and miss it greatly, sold it when it broke down.

My first real amp was a Sovtek Mig100. That thing was a beast. I've owned cars that weighed less.
I played it thru a buddies 1960a and it was MUCH louder than his 100w JCM. The tranny's were also about twice as big. lol

The clean was sterile and non-descript...bland
The crunch was pretty good...sold it before I learned about "boosting".
Full maxed out distortion was ok...real grainy and buzzy...

but it was TOOB so I thought it was awesome...till I got a Bassman RI...

I've heard the Mig60's are pretty bomb...and for the price I may grab one someday.

My first amp was this:

Had some great tone if you stuck a boost in front.
Still works fine(once I replaced the SB switch), even after almost 40 years
